So bsically I've been out of gaming 'this gen' and last time I was into gaming was during the PS2/Xbox/GCN and PC games of that time (like Mafia, Max Payne, Morrowind for example) and was wondering if you could tell me what I missed out. Recommend me whatever you like.

And by 'hidden gem' I mean games that didn't necessarily make a commercial success but are truely great games, nevertheless. Think games like Psychonauts, Beyond Good & Evil, Machinarium, etc.
What are your favourite PC games based on their story? Which ones moved or amazed or simply had the biggest impact on you? And please mention multi-platform games too if there happens to be a PC ver. too.

- no access to the playlist which makes selecting the song you want a pain and if you have around 20 mp3s can you imagine skipping from the 4th to 17th with that remote? Next, next, next, next, next... ****! better take it out, realese from hold, turn on the screen, navigate through the playlist and select the song you want... which is also a pain but it REALLY is faster than skipping that much with the remote
- the cable is TOO LONG and it's really funny [or sad] because I use headphones with the shortest cable [which is 1.2m], they're meant to be used with mp3 players you wear on a leash and even when you combine them with the remote, the remote cable just sticks out so you have to find a way to hide it in your pants or under your shirt which makes things EVEN more uncomfortable [like having a brick in your pocket wasn't enogh]
Interesting... I also have a SLIM PSP but wait... you're jogging with it? You're kidding, right? There's a high probability of your pants falling down with the SLIM, too. Not to metion of tripping with it.
Like I mentioned I'm not intending on trolling but all those guys that sold their PSP the first day they bought one did a wise choice. I finally get it why the PSP is being drooled over on these forums. It's being drooled over by 13 yr old kids that didn't get the chance to play the last generation's great ps2 games. The PSP is really one piece of bad hardware. 90% of games play like watered-down ports of PS2 games (GoW:CoO, SH:O, CC:FFVII) or exactly like them and the other 10% are just dull tetris/puzzle games.
Don't even try to argue with this one. All the design that goes into games on the PSP is just this - take a PS2 game, cut out 40% of the content, add a 5min story and there you go if not that just port the whole game, if not that make a puzzle game with the budget of 10$. There are NO PSP games that make any improvements in the handheld "on the go" revenue. They all feel to much like you're playing a PS2 game with less content to make it fit the "on the go" law of handhelds. I'm not saying playing PS2 games on the go is a bad idea but it's poorely executed on the PSP. All the glare hitting on the PSP screen when you're outside makes it annoying and if you're beating the games on the PSP 99% times at home what's the point on playing it on such a small screen when you can just grab the controler and play it on your TV? And the PSP being a mini-laptop? LOL, just no. Even with CF the PSP is just a photo, music, movie, game player and NOT a laptop. Also using hombrew like calculators, bookreaders or just surfing the internet is just horrible on the PSP.
Should have thought twice before buying the PSP. I could have saved up some more and buy a laptop + DS. But let me sum it up with this. There is one thing the PSP is really good at... and that's being a good MP4 player but that's about it. T_T
idk about u but most people dont stroll around town playing a psp, as u bump into someone or something. the psp is meant to be played anywhere in the house or car or something. a tv console, u need to be near a tv, at least i can be anywhere in my house to play my psp.
the games are great on the psp if u ask me. not all games are ports, and the games that are similar to ps2 games such as socom, and syphon filter and burnout and daxter and ratchet and clank are really great games, and playing online in games on a handheld is impressive. plus some people LIKE puzzle games.
the psp isnt exactly a mini-laptop, what he meant is that he likes to surf the web on his psp. is that a problem?
i do agree on you with psp mp3 player, its too bulky. it would be more usefull if games had custom soundtracks so u could load up your own tunes from your memory stick.
Well that's what I'm talking about... 90% of PSP games just don't feel like handheld games but feel and play like PS2 games [not nessecarily ports] but because of being on PSP 30-40% of the content is left out. So you get a watered-down PS2 game most of the time [not meaning a port but a game that plays basically like a PS2 game but even less...]. Just look what games you mentioned. All of them relate to the PS2 [or are on the PS2 and a)you're better of playing them on it or b) the play indentically the same]. Does the PSP even have any new ips that are not like Lumines or LocoRoco [Puzzle-esque games]? 80% of it's library is similiar to the PS2. And I highly doubt you can play your PSP anywhere just go outside even on a normal day and the sun makes it impossible to enjoy playing a game on the PSP. It's meant to be played indoors at best. There is nothing wrong if he enjoys using the internet on the PSP but... the same goes for using the internet on the PSP as playing the games. It's a [I can't believe I'm writing this] watered-down version of the internet and it's horrible to navigate through using the PSP. Also the possibilities CF offers is a joke stand alone and compared to a laptop. Writing, using a calculator, reading a book... it's all just horrible to use on a PSP. Emulation? All can be found on a laptop and you can play that anywhere too. Or use the internet. Or play old PC games. Or listen to music. The idea of using the PSP as an mp3 player is a very flawed one in my opinion. I'll share my opinions with you but I'm feeling like I'm going to be alone here judging by the level of ecstasy displayed by all the people who own one on this forum.
It's TOO BIG for an mp3 player:
I'm tall and my pockets are big but even I feel discomfort when I have to carry a PSP in my pocket. When I listen to music I don't want to have to worry about not damaging the big brick in my pocket and constantly feeling it's presence. It prevents me from making fast, decisive [this is probably not the best choice of adj. but english isn't my primary language and I can't think of those I'd like to express myself with] moves like jumping, quickly laying myself on my sofa and most imporantly - running and riding a bike. I just can't express how much I'd love to be using it when I'm running but it's just to extreme to do such a thing. That's the disadvantage of the PSP compared to an regular mp3 player that annoys me the most. When riding a bike I solve this problem by putting it in my backpack but it's impossible to wear a backpack everywhere on a daily basis and while running it doesn't make much sense either. I wish there was some kind of [yet again don't know the proper word for this in english] "belt" to put your PSP in that goes around your chest. So here's my question to you guys - How do you carry your PSP when listening to music?
2 other things that I find annoying:
- If you want to listen to music on your PSP that means you have to turn off the screen [if you want to save the battery but honestly even if you don't I can't imagine having the screen turned on when it just lays there in my pocket for an hour] and put it on hold and that makes it a pain when you have to take it out of your pocket, release it from hold and turn on the screen just to skip to a song or make some adjusments, especially when you're on the go in a crowdy location opposed to just pressing one button on a normal mp3 player.
- The PSP music player software really SUCKS. And I just don't understand when someone praises it and writes it's "kewl cuz it has this uber visual efects" [ok, probably I can... that opinion comes from a 13yr old]. Why does it suck you ask? Because it doesn't display the duration of the whole album [or does it and I'm just missing something? If so how do you access that?]. I just see the fanboys flaming me on this one but really have you never used Winamp? Who want's to see displayed info of just ONE mp3 song and not the whole tracklist with the duration of the one mp3 AND the whole album? I know this can probably be solved if you have CF...
My intention is not flaming but hearing out your opinions on this matter.
