I did go back to LOTRO for a couple of weeks a couple of months ago before ffxiv arr came out. It was difficult to play with all the cash shop stuff going on, well since I went FTP. You had to buy every quest , and every region, pretty unplayable unless you use cash shop. Never heard of such a thing. Oh well it was nostalgic going back but so far ffxiv arr is a pleasant experience.
