@Darth_Tyrranus: You keep talking about some imaginary law that will prevent those people from attending, do you still not see the problem here?

You make a presumption based on stereotypes that women/gays/non-muslims will not be granted entry to this event. Even if you meant Pakistan as a whole, you are still wrong and presuming with information that essentially came out of thin air.

I am not saying you're a bad person, far from it, but bad ideas and stereotypes have been shoved into your mind and you automatically made the relation Pakistan--» Islam --» No rights for women/gays/non-muslims. This isn't your fault because this is what the media and bigots would have you believe and you're not alone in this.

Why am I getting butthurt? Because you are essentially propagating wrong and fabricated information about this whole thing. Women will be able to attend this event, an event organised by a woman. Non-muslims will also be able to attend it, some of the speakers are non-muslims! Heck Ken Levine who is member of that organisation is jewish!

You are wrong all over the line, you keep speaking about some laws yet all those people who you say won't be able to are happily attending this event. Case closed.

@Darth_Tyrranus: Ok so now we are entering a different topic since you can't back your previous claim about the conference. The conference is a private event and therefore not subject to all the public laws in the country.

''it's safe to assume that there will be draconian rules on women's clothing, religious symbols, etc at the conference.'' Absolutely not since you seem to not even know a thing about Pakistani laws, all you are doing right now is presumptions based on stereotypes my friend. This isn't Tehran, this isn't some conservative Saudi city. There are cultures in that country but not much of an enforcement in clothing other then a minimum of modesty on both genders and that's their rules if you don't like it don't go there.

Human right problems don't come close in the West? I would beg to differ. The US has just elected a president who wants to normalize torture methods (water boarding) and wants to go even further. It's hypocritical because of all the atrocities that the west has committed historically that simply go unnoticed, not because it's a criticism that I dislike. You want us to just sit there and pretend like we're just angels compared to the rest of the world when we are the ones who messed up the middle-east and even Pakistan in the first place? Please.

For full disclaimer: I know Pakistan has backward laws and there is actually a current progressive movement in that country that aims to change some of those laws. I do not endorse or defend those laws and I will not argue with you about them because we are on the same page when it comes to that. But to simply think we are ''better'' is a bit of stretch because we are in no position to look down at them. If I could be a bit critical about everyone involved; we are simply the lesser of two evils.

@Darth_Tyrranus: Hypocritical in a way that there is a large gender inequity in the west, persecution of LGBT members and discrimination against anything non-white. Yet people like you feel entitled to point fingers elsewhere.

Also you were talking about the conference and were implying that somehow THIS conference is cool provided you are not female/gay/non-muslim/etc. So don't try to spin this into ''Oh Pakistan is so horrible'', this isn't what this is about. The conference attendees are from all around the world and this is meant to create job and interest in video game development in the country. You have absolutely no evidence to show that women, gays or non-muslims aren't welcome there. Heck many of those speakers are non-muslims, some are women and some may even be gay!

Why don't we read the article before commenting?

GEC is helmed by Sadia Bashir --» She's a woman!

Who is Sadia Bashir --» the founder and CEO of the PixelArt Games Academy (PGA)

PGA? --» PGA [...] aims to provide support and training for entrepreneurial women.

You made the claim, hence I invite YOU to present your evidence pertaining to this conference, not the country. Also you only provided information about the gender inequity, something I will not defend on the behalf of Pakistan as it does have lots to improve on, so does the rest of the world.

@xolivierx: ''some nerd is going to bring up Bayonetta, you can count on it''

So you already know you're contradicting yourself?

And there I was thinking I was the only one with that kind of vision. I applaud you Tom, really I do! I've had this vision for years now and I also think the PSP was a good start towards that vision. I really do hope we get to enjoy any game any where. Thanks for the article!

I'll get it mainly because I'm a tech freak :P. But the new version deffinitaly looks more interesting then the old one so I'm in. The only problem is that they are releasing the black one alone with nothing else in the box, why only promote the other colours with cool packs ? :?
