hi guys does the ps3 have like a built in media player, as in can i play .AVI files? i mean i heard of some firmware upgrades that added some more functionality but i have not had a chance to get to upgrade my firmware yet. did a later firmware update add this functionality?

well i've got a ton of anime on an external hard drive of mine i was just wondering if it is possible to hook it up to my ps3 to watch them on my tv.

i've only got one of them 40gb ones if that helps

Thnx in advance

I don't understand what the big deal is about them cutting out the EE chip. Can't they just emulate its function so they don't spend as much on production without cutting features?gundamfan80

the problem is sony's emulation software sucks a $ $ and they cant play half the games properly, they need to fix it up, i soo hope they do cos i got a nice collection of ps1/2 games i adore.

hmm it would seem that sony are planning on cutting costs by removing the EE chip from the next batch of PS3, just like they removed the EE chips before realsing it to europe and here in australia.

well since it wont affect us hear in australia (we never got a EE chip in ours in the first place) i guess i am glad i waited a little while before purchasing my PS3, the 80gig should be available down under in bout 6 months and hopefully at the same or lower price :D

hi there everyone, im considering getting a PS3 soon but was curious as to what the level of backword compatibility it has with the PS1 and PS2 game collection, not in terms of what games are playable but rather if it is possible to save games on the PS3's hardrive, with PS1 and PS2 games.

the reason i ask is that, during the last gen transition i noticed i was unable to save my PS1 games on my PS2, im interested in getting a PS3 rather soon but i am unsure as to whether i should trade in my PS2 console, to get it as there a a number of PS2 games i am yet to fully complete.

if anyone has tried a PS1 game on their PS3 also i would appreciate your comment, (i have the complete range of final fantasy series i still put in from time to time).
