The game's story is fine, but the game itself is nearly broken, from the fact that it forces you to use ammo that you don't have against endless swarms of enemies.
The game's stealth system that you use like 3 times in the game is worthless 90% of the rest of the game. There's nothing actually good about the gameplay of The Evil Within, its not scary and it DOES in fact rely on jump scares. The environments aren't scary, they're just gore covered hallways and rooms, then cliche creep mansions. Nothing about this game is actually legitimately scary except for a few of the boss monsters.
@Gankstar_VX84 First off, not an expansion, its a whole game. Dated? the first one came out in 2009, which makes it newer than most games with multiple sequels. Ugly? What makes it ugly? the fact that its not realistic looking? the fact that its a stylized game? Is it not up to your call of duty standards for HD super realistic textures or character models? Boring is opinion and you're allowed to have it, i disagree but that is also just my opinion. and this is its third game, how has it been milked to death? Plus its not like each game is the same, each game has completely different characters to play as who all play very differently, each game has completely different settings (especially this one) and each game has added new and different enemies to the mix. And what has 2K ever done wrong? i've never seen a game they've made that was bad. What is your actual issue here?
the only issue you've stated that can't be argued with is that you think the game is boring, and again like i said, its an opinion not a fact.
