if you are running windows 7 you might want to check your power options and make sure windows isnt cutting you multi down when now under load. in power options you will see an advanced tab you can click which will have you proccessor power managment options. make sure your mim and max are set to 100 percent otherwise windows will throttle your cpu even if your bios says other

well it looks like they lock mac addresses and could monitor which ones are online at any given time. cloning someone else's mac address wont help because they will seedouble the usages on that one mac and still kill the connection on there end.

from my understanding you can boot the windows upgrade cd first and then perform a custom install which will let you formatt and do a clean install from the upgrade disc. you wont be able to install vista again because once you use the upgrade version of windows 7 it deactivates your vista key so you cant use it again.

before you go crazy and start taking things apart you should know that some of the 8400's have bad thermal sensors which make the temps look high, but they really are not. i have a e8400 on the same heatsink and my temps are around 40 to 50 under load. try downloading everest and look at the cpu temp, not the core temps because they will be wrong.

your temps are alot lower than what your seeing. there is something wrong with the thermal sensor on most of the 8400's which reports the wrong temps.

Do you want crossfire or SLI? If you wanted to SLI sometime i'd recomend the ASUS P5N-D because it costs £80 and has full SLI, great quality too.

The e8400 is darn good so yeah thats the bang-for-buck processor at the moment.

hongkingkong

what he said. i have the asus p5n-d and an e8400. not one problem at all. thw cpu stays idle at 35°c and full load at 52°. im using a acrtic freezer pro 7 btw. the p5n-d will boot the e8400 out of the box and its got pcie 2.0.
