This is my first Atlus rpg, I get the feeling not as much effort went into some things, bc this is a wii u game. Are the bigger Atlus rpg games dated in the transition between area's like this game? I still like the game bc they did very well imo on the jpop, art, dialogue, and story. So I can live with the dated design. I believe all the Wii U games after 2014 where cut short you might say, bc the recovery effort to turn sales around did not go as planned.

Religion is added by man to the word by ignorance. Religion is full of legalism, probably the control part you talk about which is not real Christianity. The bible controls us, by your viewpoint, with things like nationality. Nationality is divine establishment, made so evil cannot take over the world. kinda like how the U.S. stops it from spreading. Seriously if it was not for the U.S., the whole world would be under communist and dictator control. Thats in the Bible, so it just tells us how to live the best we can in an imperfect world.
So yes, religion and religious ideas added to the real word, are made to throw people off from the real word of God. You could say this type of incorrect christianity is in fact to control people, but just control them from not getting the real word. Who do you think is behind all religion?

@RogerioFM: Yep the gods where fallen angels, they did not create the earth or universe. Humans surely would have worshiped them. The demi gods where the offspring of fallen angels and man, described in the Bible as the nephilim.

There is some truth in mythology, pre flood, Gods having sons from human women. The fallen angels where seen as the gods, hero's like Hercules where offspring from the fallen angels and human women, the nephilim.
In the book of Giants, Enoch describes the nephilim as the hero's of old or legend. I'm sure they where celebrities that had achieved magnificent feats in the eyes of humans.
Before you make fun and say its all made up, do you think ancient people where dumb, do you think they would have any reason to make up all this mythology for no reason, just from their imaginations? Unless they where tripping 24/7 on hallucinogens, I see no reason to take what they have written down as completely made up.
It fits in with what the bible says happened pre flood. The Bible says very little on the subject but its easy to put it together. The ancient Greeks must have had the info passed down to them, not to mention the rest of ancient cultures who had similar mythology stories. Almost every single ancient culture has a flood story, so does this make it mythology, or does it give it more credibility?
