Uncharted certainly looks good but one thing I didn't like is the saran wrap look of everything thats wet in the enviornment (especially the larger rocks). Looks cheap to me and very unrealstic. Water on the other hand looks fine, moving and still pools.

[QUOTE="jremi"]You can get a quality HDMI cable for 5 bucks.. easily worth a purchase over a set of component cables. Component is fine, but if you have a 1080p TV definetely go for HDMI.Haze-and-Ses

If you're playing in 720p,is there a difference between component and hdmi?

There is a difference, however wether its worth it is up to you.I definetely prefer HDMI over component. I'd say its comparable to the difference between composite (yellow, red white) and S-Video.

[QUOTE="thageneral3"]

the ps3 can't upscale crap on it's own?

is that why regular DVDs play like HD DVDs?

I think your wrong, if its upscaled its upscaled. it may not be true 1080p, but its better than 720p, period

2headedhawaiian

Haha, please! If you think upscaled DVDs look like HD and upscaled PS2 games look like PS3 games, you need to either a) put away that SDTV and upgrade to an LCD/plasma, b) visit your local optometrist, or c) stop making crap up about things you don't understand.

And upscaling to 1080p from 720p native resolution will NOT be better. Period.

Not always true, in some cases 1080p tv's do a terrible job of upscaling content. The PS3 and 360 may do a much better job justifying the reason to let them upscale rather than the TV.

Is it any surprise Manhunt 2 has sold? Look at the insane advertisement it's got, its all over the news! Of course its going to sell...

How many times have you seen anything about R & C in a TV commercial or the news? Or anywhere other than a gaming website?

For me R & C is a fun game, but one I wont buy. It's too short and I personally dont tend to play games through a second time. It's what I consider the perfect rental.

360 and PS3 are 16-18 players online... only a few maps are 18 players..

That said I do like that COD4 on PS3 is 1080p as my tv is 1080p native but I also have a nice 24" monitor and 8800gtx I could run the PC version on.. Only drawback to PC versions is hacks, there are always more cheaters and hackers on pc versions.

[QUOTE="padejace"] Then having compressed videos or 4 discs is not a blocking factor I thing... After all, the difference between comrpessed and uncompressed isn't that obviousteebeenz
The video is compressed heavily already.

And your source for this information is??

Lemme guess, you don't have one?

Yes but the cutscenes are compressed at the same ratio as movies are in BluRay format. They could be compressed quite a bit more with hardly any to no degredation.

Oh nooo they would have to compress the cutscenes.. sigh when will people start complaining about things that actually matter lol.. Ever seen a 1080p movie compressed? Looks damn good, I've really never seen any difference compared to a HD DVD or BluRay.. And anyone complaining do you even have a 1080p native TV? Because if not it's simply going to downsample everything to your native rez.
