@Dilandau88: Appeal to popularity, again. But gee, it's almost like a lot of people can still enjoy something despite its flaws. ;)

@Dilandau88: We call that a logical fallacy, bud. Specifically argumentum ad populum, or appeal to popularity. Just because multiple people agree with or follow something, does not make it right.

@FF7Legend1981: That doesn't necessarily mean the Destroy ending is canon. Several Reapers get destroyed over the course of Mass Effect 3, well before the Catalyst is activated. There are even downed Reapers from other cycles, like the Derelict Reaper from ME2.

@Dilandau88: Spoken like someone who puts too much stock in numbers tacked on at the end of other peoples' opinions to form their own opinion. Bet you're one of those 'I'm too good to play indie games while also complaining about the way AAA companies make their games' types as well.

But fine, it's your loss. Meanwhile I'm just out here enjoying games that peak my interest without letting the Gamer™ hivemind influence my opinions.

I wouldn't really call The Witcher 3 a masterpiece, sure the technical problems may be fixed by that still doesn't fix all of its terrible design decisions. Level-gating, terrible default movement controls, the bad fan-fiction level writing and the instances where Geralt can make choices his character never would (like killing Keira Metz despite Keira being a close friend of Yennifer or snitching on the one guy selling stolen mage equipment).

Then you have the easily exploitable and unbalanced combat, the repetitive and uniterest Ubisoft-style open world content like monster nests, the awful pacing of the last third of the game where it has three different climaxes, and so on and so forth. I still enjoyed the game, but it's faaar from being a flawless masterpiece. Still, I look forward to the original game's remake and other future projects.

Price is also a very poor indicator of quality. I picked The Witcher 3 up for $8.99 USD back in Christmas of 2015, using your own argument that should mean it's a terrible game. Even great games go on sale, especially around Black Friday.

Some of my all-time-favorite games are 'middling 6s' that ended up becoming well-beloved cult classics. Games that are seen as underrated gems by the community today but will likely never see a sequel because they underperformed financially, overshadowed by the newest Call of Duty release or some other game lifted up on a pedestal.

@illegal_peanut: Just because it's popular to hate or like something is not an inherently objective judgement of quality, we call that argumentum ad populum or 'appeal to popularity.' I put very little stock into what the Gamer™ hivemind thinks of a game and play what I enjoy, and for the most part enjoy what I play.

I loved the Mass Effect trilogy and even enjoyed the endings to ME3, especially after I had time to process my emotions and consider what the implications for each ending meant for the galaxy. I also loved Andromeda because it has the best combat Mass Effect has ever seen and I appreciated the return to roots with a focus on planetary exploration.

The people crying about the facial animations (which were fixed in the first patch) were incapable of seeing the forest for the trees and thus tried to find the forest by cutting down all the trees, resulting in there no longer being a forest.

@Dilandau88: 6/10 is not a 'low' review score, it's above average. What's with gamers' weird review score system where anything less than a 7 is 'the worst game ever?'

I also don't put much stock in player reception, Gamers™ have a strong tendency to overreact to a game's flaws, meme them out of proportion, and then stir up a torrential crapstorm about it. Like the people who unironically claim the endings to ME3 ruined the whole franchise when they're not even that bad.

People with these kinds of mindsets are exactly the reason we can't have anything nice. Unpleasable reactionaries with expectations so high they couldn't possibly be met, so when the game came out they were more upset with what the game wasn't than what it actually was.

Add on top of that YouTube pundits like Crowbcat throwing up videos focusing on the bugged facial animations (which were the first thing fixed by patches) while also ignored the flaws and terrible release states of critical darlings like The Witcher 3 or literally every FromSoft game. The double standard is absurd.

@FF7Legend1981: If the Reapers are still around but friendly, like in the Control or Synthesis endings, they could easily rebuild the mass relays. It's possible that the Andromeda colonists could retun to the Milky Way, possibly by utilizing technology developed after they gained control of Meridian.
