It's a cheap attempt to discredit the game. Most people who play it don't care; it's the people who don't own the game or the system it came out on that make a big deal about it. Besides, most people can't tell the difference, it was only after some guy with his nose against his TV counting pixels told them that they noticed it.

I would rather play a fun game on the Atari than a boring PC game with awesome graphics.
Half-Life 2 and Doom were both on the original Xbox, and the Xbox's specs were less than half of the minimum specs for those two games. They didn't look as good as their PC equivalents, but they still looked pretty good. Who knows, a console version of Crysis that loads smaller portions of the world might show up.
