@crazysav69: True, but money can't buy everything; they might not be able to beat the physical limitations of the die at 14nm. Hence, the 6TF target may be for 2018-2019 in 11nm, while Sony does a release before in 14nm for VR, and one again in 11nm a couple years later.
@bigbadcrawford: I thought you were going to refer me to an article about die size issues. Physical limitations could be an actual limitation to TF potential as it was for both XBone and PS4 at launch.
My guess is Sony never planned for PS4K to to release this year; their stuff was legitimately leaked. If MS claims it can get 6TFs then perhaps it's during to jump down to 11nm around 2018-2019, while PS4K releases a year or two earlier in 14nm process. If Sony does a 11nm 6+TF revamp, this could become a war of escalation...
@motopram: Exactly, and good on them for capitalizing on their strength, because MS will utilize its software strength and deep pockets with no restraints soon enough: Windows, DirectX etc.
@ojmstr: If that were true, PS3 would have been a hit despite the price, but it wasn't. Gamers are fickle. PS4 won because of price/performance and media vibes... it's a thin line.
Neo MUST beat Scorpio or else Sony will lose many people on the fence. Sony has light pockets and needs something to attract those coming for the 3rd party titles, (so far, it has been fidelity). I hope they beef it up and add an extra fan or two...
I can't recall a single FPS set in history that does not do that. If they were there to teach and simulate the horrors of war, you could bet they'd be installed on the PCs at schools and colleges.
