@Verenti I freakin' know right. Just because this story names the PS4, everyone is quick to condemn them. We don't even know if they are working exclusively on the PS4, I highly doubt it.
@hystavito If you are studying in an educational institute, and they say that "If you want to pass, you need to complete a certain amount of work experience" and then you say "No I don't want to do that" then they fail you, are you going to complain? If this is part of the course they are studying, then it is what it is.
@OmniScynce @superbuuman @bigbeckdaddy Sony has absolutely nothing to do with how Foxconn operates their company.
The only thing they can do is threaten to take their business elsewhere, and that is not necessarily the right thing. Most major technology corporations use Foxconn, including Apple. We have NO idea what the circumstances around this are, just because one site reported it as forced labour does not mean that it is. Many University degree's include some form of work experience that MUST be carried out to graduate, is THIS forced labour as well?
Foxconn is nothing to do with Sony other than a manufacturing contract, they have no control over who works in the factory itself. This is the same as saying Apple is responsible for the Foxconn issues previously. Gamespot, did you really have to try and paint Sony as a demonic company forcing child labour just to get more hits?
Let's not forget that these kids are working as technology students, their fields of study will include manufacturing of electrical components. Who is to say that Foxconn did not arrange this agreement with the University or vice versa? They are given free experience in a large electrical manufacturing company, and NONE of them have complained about it. So let's get over it?
Actually, the rumour has been for awhile that Sony was considering DRM and looking at possible solutions. It was NEVER confirmed that they were doing it.
Guys, it is NOT using a new engine. It is using the same engine as before, but it has been upgraded. Still, it is the SAME ENGINE. The creative director did an interview and specifically said "It depends how you define a new engine, in this case, we recognised there was areas where we had significantly upgraded our engine to the point where we classified it as a new engine, developing a new engine would take a long time". That is BS! It's the same engine.
