@Psycold @Kisalon @OurSin-360 I bought the game...then cracked the .exe so I wouldn't have to worry about disconnects. The only "message" a publisher gets when you don't buy the game is "this game doesn't sell", not "our stupid business practices make people not want to buy our product." No point punishing the developer for the publisher's idiocy imo.

@zheimers My legos don't randomly generate worlds that I can modify and walk around in, nor do they have zombies.

This game was made with a tiny budget by a small developer. Who are they removing creative talent from? Call of Duty 9? Assassin's Creed 5? Grand Theft Auto 5?

What is your definition of an "adult" game that could have possibly lost out because of Minecraft?

Would it be a game that is "rediculous and retarted (sic)"? Dumbing down the industry, indeed.

@DeadLight2080 I was once asked to prove that someone can hate literally anything, no matter how benign that thing is.

It seems I finally found the proof. Thank you.

@Salt_AU @Sakirenn @Landsharkk He's referring to the API, textures, and plugin repository I assume, not the blocks and carts. I doubt Microsoft would ever allow them to have "unapproved" plugins available for Minecraft on the 360 version. Not to mention open source, lol.

By the way, Minecraft has sold more copies on XBox than the state of the art game Forza =).

But yeah, this update is for the PC version, the XBox version has its own updates (they are developed separately).

@unigolyn False. Super Mario Galaxy 2, MGS 4, GTA IV, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, Chrono Cross, Ocarina of Time, and the original Soul Caliber all received perfect 10 scores from Gamespot.

The always online DRM is a legitimate complaint and many professional reviewers have lowered the score even farther for that exact reason. The game itself isn't perfect either. I would argue a 9.0 for D3 but I can see where they got the 8.5. I would also argue that none of the games above that actually received a 10 deserve it, especially GTA IV and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (which were both good but not perfect; one was filled with boring and annoying gameplay elements and the other was a slightly better version of the same game as before).

@JuggernautChild What difference would making a KKK game make? We have KKK movies, documentaries, and descriptions in history books. Correct me if I'm misunderstanding you, but are you implying that avoiding discussion of something will somehow correct it? We show kids videos and pictures of the Holocaust in school, yet somehow making a video game depiction of racism will somehow expose them to it? Ignorance does NOT protect people. It only leaves them unprepared once they're exposed to something. You wouldn't send a soldier to war without telling them about violence or give a doctor a scalpel without ever exposing them to bodies. You expose them, give them *context*, then teach them the proper response to it. This is what parents are for. Not video game companies, Hollywood, the record companies, teachers, or Steven King. You wouldn't try to prevent underage drinking by pretending alcohol didn't exist, and we all know how well the attempt to ban alcohol went. You teach kids about the dangers of alcohol and instill responsibility into them. And there are many responsible adults who can drink without ruining their lives. Funny how that works.

There are sexist shows on television right now that target males. I can name three rather famous ones off the top of my head...Family Guy, the Simpsons, and Malcolm in the Middle. In all three cases the father figure, and in the case of the first two the male children, are portrayed as mentally retarded fools who's only saving grace are the females in their lives. Sound ridiculous? Perhaps. No more so than any other example of satirical sexism in the media. Does the sexism present in these shows (well, the first two, don't really care for the latter) prevent me from enjoying them? Do I start complaining that real men don't act like Homer or Peter, and that the shows should be banned until they portray men accurately? Of course not. I laugh at Peter's antics just as much as anyone else and don't feel offended because I *know* it's a satire. So what right do women have to get offended about Duke Nukem (and any of the million sexist films out there)? I suppose you have the right to get offended about anything you want...but then I have the right to simply not give a darn =).

@neuroboy I'm not certain you and the author are using the same, well, context. I did not get the impression that she was saying Duke is justified by Lolita, only that *portraying* something does not mean you are *endorsing* it. Just as Nabokov was likely against the behaviors he was depicting Duke's portrayal of women doesn't mean the creators are promoting such behavior. Just like George Lucas likely does not condone the destruction of planets as a means of assassination (I'm guessing). It really weakens your argument against context when you take the article out of context in your argument. Trust me, that sentence works. Think about movies...would you consider Undercover Brother racist? Half-Baked pro-drugs? American History X pro-racial violence? Virtually every action movie ever pro-murder? You don't solve race, sex, religion, orientation, etc. issues by pretending they don't exist. You confront them and overcome them. This is why comedians are so successful; not just because they're funny, but because they're able, much like the medieval court jester, to put into light difficult issues and allow us to face them.

Saying "kids are going to play it anyway" is a silly argument. You could say the same thing (with a verb replacement) about movies, books, heck even pornography. I certainly saw rated 'R' movies and even pornographic films back in middle school. Yet you don't see morality groups jumping up to ban movies or books (leaving out pornography) because of potentially "bad things." Well, at least not more than usual. Here's a trick...instead of trying to fix the world because little Jonnie might be influenced by Grand Theft Auto why not try spending some time explaining why the things in the game are wrong in real life, some of the consequences for them, and the difference between play and reality? You aren't doing a kid any favors by insulating them from life...you need to give them the tools to make good decisions when they're adults.
