"We're actually tying up every loose end in the story in MGS4, going back to Portable Ops, and Snake Eater, MGS1 and MGS2. Pretty much everything you're wondering about and you might have complained before about Mr. Kojima's script, that this doesn't make sense. Why doesn't Vamp die, or why is Raiden like this, or who is Naomi, really, why is she double crossing and triple crossing people. All of that stuff is answered in MGS4."
So say Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots' Assistant Producer, Ryan Payton in this lengthy interview.
But does the "no backwards compatibility" thing mean no EE, or that you can't even play PS2 games via software emulation?
If it just means no EE, then no biggie, but if they some how don't allow for software emulation (which makes no sense since it's through software, not hardware), then that's a bad move. The Playstation brand has always been known for it's backwards compatibility, and something that Sony has always advertised. Excellent price, I just want the backwards compatibility thing clarified a bit more thoroughly.

I don't get this, because the European PS3's don't have the EE. All the bc is already done by emulation. So I agree with you: this makes no sense.
B/c is curently done through a combination of hardware (ps2's GS) and software (emulation)
or hardware in the early models (ps2's GS and EE).
OK that's explains a lot. No BC on the 40 GB, then. Guess I'll stick to my 60 GB version ;)
So am I reading the article correctly when I interpret that it has no emulation software for PS2 games? Or do they just mean that it doesn't include the chip?Pittfan666
The European 60GBPS3 don't have the EE in the first place - all bc is done by emulation - so I don't get this no BC compatability.

I'm still looking for the source that states every PS3 update will be absolutely 100% groundbreaking.emitsu97

Sony Europe has confirmed to Eurogamer that PS3 firmware version 1.92 is now available to download.

Unfortunately specific details on what has changed are still being confirmed, although a quick look at the official Japanese site points to some minor housekeeping tweaks.
It looks as though performance has now been improved in the PlayStation Store, while the second bullet point suggests a backwards compatibility update of some sort.
We'll bring you a full list of changes when we get our hands on them or when we learn to speak Japanese, whichever comes first.
