Hello,

I'm about to buy the new ASUS G73 gaming lap, but I'm torn between then A1 and A2 versions. Basicly, the difference is one has a blu ray drive and the other has a DVD-RW combo. Does anyone know if the BD drive on the A1 can also read and burn CDs and DVDs? If not, it might be better for me to get the A2 version for the DVD combo...

Thanks for the help!

Hello,

I was going to buy an ASUS G73-A1 laptop, but I can't seem to find any of them in stock, anywhere. Is there another laptop with equal specs and similar price or bang-for-your-buck? The only other gaming laptop brand I know is Alienware, but they're extremely expensive... I wanted something within the 1600 range, with those specs.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Those do look nice... How's the sound quality? I've been reading some reviews and see a lot of ppl complaining about the bass (or the lack of, in this case). Any other sets I should look at?

Thanks for the help! =)

This is pretty good for the price.

Never heard of that company... is it good for gaming? Does it give you a sence of where the noises are coming and stuff?

Hello,

I'm looking to buy myself a decent gaming headset for, hopefully, not too much money. I'm really at loss when it comes to headsets, the ones I was looking at were the ones from Logitech merely because I like the company, but I'm not even sure their headsets are as good as the rest of the stuff they make.

I can spend up to 80 bucks give or take, but would rather spend less. I'm looking for good sound quality with great ambiance (as in, you can tell from wich direction the noise is coming) and a decent mic for team speak, ventrilo and skype.

Any sugestions?

Thanks!

Any idea where I could find this laptop other than Newegg? Was thinking BestBuy and the likes, do they sell those?

[QUOTE="hpstp"]Well, I'll be using a monitor/mouse/keyboard most of the time, so itll pretty much work as a desktop... I'm interested in the most performance, pretty much. Any other rigs I should look at? Thanks!Tezcatlipoca666

Why get a laptop then? I'd get a nice desktop for gaming and an inexpensive laptop for working on the go.

I did buy a smoking desktop, but I live in Brazil and buying these things here is expensive. I buy them in the US, but aparently getting a desktop inside the country is extremely difficult. So I sold the damn thing and now I'm going to buy a laptop instead, wich is way easier to import =\.

Yeah, I noticed. Alienware does look alot cooler, but I'm not willing to pay extra for that. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220695&cm_re=asus_laptop-_-34-220-695-_-Product Would this be a safe bet? One thing I don't understand is the 8gb memory... does it come in dual-channel, tri-channel or nothing? That'd make it alot slower wouldn't it?

Hello, I'm about to buy myself a gaming laptop, and I've got arround 1600-2000 to spend. Thing is, I don't understand mobile chips all that much, and am having trouble figuring out what to buy. Presently, I'm thinking about an Asus or Alienware rig. Asus seems to be the most affordable with good specs, but is it realiable enough?

Another question is about mobile processors... wich would be optimal, a dual core with higher clock speeds such as the i7-620m or a quad core with slower clocks such as the i7-720qm and the likes?

About mobile graphics, wich one is the better, an GTS360M from nvidia or a HD5870 from ATI?

Are there other brands I should consider before I buy? I'm not sure I trust Asus enough, but Alienware seems rather overpriced when compared. AND they only have older graphics options, in this case the GT 240M and the GTX60M... Considering Ill be playing all the newest and most demanding games on this, I think this will be huge bottleneck...

Thanks in advance for all the help! =]
