I'm also a medical student and I see your point. As professionals we don't get the priviledge to speak our minds despite sometimes an enormous urge to do it, because our personal bias is, well, only our personal bias. If you need to give a cold, rational review about an issue, we just don't interfere with it unless it is strongly against the ethics.
