No. As an Atheist I believe it's defined as a lack of belief in God, which is what I think religion is defined as.btaylor2404
Wow, I actually disagree with you in terms of the definition of Atheism. If we go by your definition of atheism, it would include babies, agnostics, and people who have not come to a conclusion about the existence of gods (apatheist).

The problem with the included "lack of belief" definition is that it is too ambiguous and vague. If someone told you they were an atheist using the "lack of belief" definition, you would still not know if they were agnostic, atheist, or apatheist. This makes the word useless.

In addition, the "lack of belief" definition is that it is not accepted by the majority of people. I don't know anyone who considers babies, atheists because they "lack belief in gods or the supernatural." I don't know anyone who is considered an agnostic or undecided about the existence of God who call themselves atheists either.

No, it can't, its a rejection of a belief in God(s). If they followed humanism, humanism still wouldn't be called a religion but rather a belief system.

[QUOTE="supercubedude64"]It's always lame to see other people doing it, but when you're part of it, the rest of the world can suck it.blooddog28
agreed!

I'm fine with couples kissing in public but do you guys really have to do it in popular public areas? (such as a hall or places where where we have to walk pass you guys?) Honestly have some consideration.

If they're not trying to make a scene then I'm fine with it. However, if they do it in public, infront of people who trying to walk passed them but can't then yeah, I have a problem.

[QUOTE="tzar3"]

I remember seeing a Documentary of the Rape Of Nanking.

The Japanese were horribly brutal and inhumane...

tzar3

Seriously.

I saw a picture of a Japanese soldier standing there smiling at a camera with a dead guys head in his hand.

I mean, what did they think they were doing? Was cutting up innocent people and showing off their severed heads what they called honor?

They weren't just brutal, they wereinsane.

It pisses me off whenever I hear sympathies being extended to those people.

I'm going into the military myself(Marine Corps), and the whole "Just doing his job" or "following orders" doesn't cut it.

The things they did were not something normal, mentally healthy people would do.

Yeah they were very normal about killing chinese civilans.

I remember one part of the documentary about how two Japanese officers decided to do a friendly competition on how many "chinese" they can kill.

Once it ended they asked each other on how many they killed, once they told each other number of victims they gave out a good natured laugh.

Agreed, there were other people suffering from WWII other than the Jews and it makes depress that people forget them.

[QUOTE="Jemdude"]

Some people here have accused the school of hatred and bigotry, but that is simply not true. An organization can restrict the type of people they allow in depending on the audience they are trying to reach. For example, a Japanese association (or any other ethnic association for that matter) is only going to accept as members, people who have a connection to the Japanese heritage. They are not going to be inclusive and accept every "Tom, Dick and Harry" who signs up. Does that mean that they hate non-Japanese people? Of course not. The same thing goes for a private Christian school. They are primarily there for the Christians of their particular denomination and want to promote a Christian lifestyle to all students. It is not for everybody of every lifestyle and every religion. That doesn't mean that they hate such people. It's degisned for a Christian audience and promote the Christian lifestyle.

Yes i realise that, ive never read the bible, but i cannot beleive it actively promotes discrimination about lesbians....Maybe the girls were christians, WHAT IS THAT SCHOOL'S RIGHT TO DENY CHRISTIANS ENTRY just because of their sexual orientation. If the girls said they definitively weren't christians, i'd understand, but since they din't....

They're not promoting the school's idea of what they BELIEVE is Christianity. There are many types of Christian denominations, they just happen to attend the school that did not support their behaviour.
