If anything were to prove your point, it would be the 9.0 that Super Mario III got for the Wii. That game is so old and it still gets a 9.0. However, the failing with your point is that CoD4 is the top game right now, and has been for a while now.

Here's another game to use for your argument though. GTA San Andreas. That game was #1 for so long, and I bet that its not far off from being on the top 10 list again. It always seems to creep back in.
