No you cannot. You get back a refurbished PS3 with a wiped harddrive.

DropTarget

I thought that wasn't guarnateed though since some people claim on getting their own ps3 back and others although alot less than the other have claimed to not get thier HD wiped.

I was wondering if you could request to only get your own ps3 back and not have you hard drive wiped clean after repairs, anyone have any expereince with this? The problem with the ps3 is that it scratches disk's if that helps to answer the question.

Any help is appreciated!

NVM that post, seems like i can't edit it.

Here's what it's come to, is there any way for me to request me getting my own ps3 back isntead of someone else's and also not having my Hard drive wiped clean?

[QUOTE="gabby-gill"]

Ok so seems like there was a problem with the ps3 it self but now i have a new dilemma...i have the fat 160GB and i either have the option to get it replaced with a brand new 120G slim or get it repaired. Now if i get it replaced, how would i go on transfering my saved game data so i only want it to remember what lvl i was in MW2 and my campaign progress along with GTA4 progress data. If i get it repaired, how long does it usually take to get it fixed with a problem like this? do they reset the ps3 and i end up loosing all the data or something of that kind?

Thanks for the help!

AGMing

damn shoulf have read the whole threwad first :D though my drunken ramblings may halp others.

if your in the US it might be different but in the UK when my PS3 died i called sony they told me to take my hard drive out and wait for a courier who would be there the next day, they delivered the same model as i had and took my old one away.

Doubt that work here since im going from a 160G to a 120G and there different models.

Yeh i'll test the music CD and then go talk to bestbuy since that's where i bought it from, hopefully they can fix it and i don't have to waste so much time talking to sony.

Yeh im scared to put any other games in it, so a music CD actually might be a good idea to test it.

On a side note, i cleaned the scratched disc and trying playing it again and seems like it works fine or it did for the one game i played. Still wondering though, would sony even refund me if it was the ps3's fault and my disk didnt work anymore?
