The costs of producing more realistic and demanding graphics are actually not relatively rising; as technology advances and becomes more commonplace, it actually costs less to produce those graphics. Given that technology is constantly advancing forward, the costs of producing better and better graphics is actually remaining fairly constant. For example, in 1999, Shenmue, arguably the best looking game during its time, cost around $70 million to make not adjusted for inflation. In 2010, a game like Gran Turismo 5 which also looks amazing, cost about $60 million. Pretty consistent, so yeah, it is worth it.
I tried playing yesterday and there were no red shirted pirates anywhere. I killed them all. What have I done...? now there's nothing to do in the game...
I would probably take your opinion into more consideration if you used proper grammar, punctuation, and less run on sentences. You don't though, so I think I'll weigh the gamespot review a bit more...
He's not saying it looks bad because it doesn't, it actually looks amazing. Just saying it could look better, but really, what honest, humble dev doesn't say that about their game?
