He wasnt assassinated in his sleep. He was assassinated after he dissed Liu Bei in front of Cao Cao because Lu Bu offered to join Cao Cao to try to save his own life, but the Liu Bei reminded Cao Cao of Lu Bu's past masters, and that's when he shouted at Liu Bei. Those words he shouted were the last words he ever said.(I wasn't sure who killed Lu Bu though, Liu Bei, Cao Cao, or some other guy)
