They made a classic and fatal mistake. They didn't listen to their customers. They needed a more powerful system. People can wag their controller at their TV with the original Wii. What the hell is that tablet controller? No one wants that thing. Get rid of that dumb controller and lower the price and they will be back in action.

300 of the 500$ is a bunch of crap no one wants. Put out a version that just plays the games and has no DRM for 200 and see which version sells better.
