Just curious for thoughts on when would be a good time to get a PS3.  I've heard rumors that the price might get cut, which I highly doubt.  My main reason for holding out at this point is that there aren't any games I am dying to play, except Resistance, and any cross-platform games I can play on the 360.

Honestly, the main reason I want the PS3 right now is for the hardware itself, and because I am a gadget freak.

What are the upcoming, system-selling games exclusive to PS3?

Specific to multiplayer - a party system (ala Halo 2) so that you can play ranked matches with friends.

The 360's primary purpose is to play games, but don't be so quick to call it just a video game system. Microsoft (and Sony too) has been pretty up-front about their desires to conquer the living room with an all-in-one type device. To pigeon-hole the 360 as only a video game system, you are ignoring the fact that it also:

  1. plays DVDs and CDs
  2. can download and play movies and tv shows
  3. can stream music and photos from a PC (and video from a Windows Media Center PC)

I guarantee that Microsoft releases a browser for the 360 before the end of the year, if for no other reason than to keep up with the Joneses (Wii and PS3).

The easiest way to beat Raam is to have a buddy jump in and co-op on his ugly ass...

If that is not an option, grab the sniper rifle that is just before Raam and go for head shots when the kryll are not shielding him.  Stick behind that first low wall when you encounter him.  If he gets close, run like hell for different cover, but stick to the lightened areas, or the kryll will pick your bones clean.

On the first 2 difficulty settings, you shouldn't really have any problems.  Insane is a different matter, and for that I recommend the co-op option.

I have the Linksys wireless adapter - originally bought it for my xbox, and it works just as well for the 360.  Think I paid $60 or 70.  You should be able to find it on sale at Best Buy or Circuit City if you are patient.

I personally think Gears is a great game.  The campaign is short but fun, and even better in co-op.  Multiplayer has its flaws (the vacuum power of the chainsaw for one), but overall is great.  You'll have more fun playing with friends on Live than you will in ranked games w/ strangers, but that is probably true for all multiplayer games.

I actually think it would be kinda cool to have a browser to do some light surfing from my couch.  I can almost guarantee that MS has one in the works - both the Wii and PS3 have browsers, and MS will want to be in-sync with their competitor's offerings.  Not to mention that MS produces IE, so it doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to see them finding a way to get a light browser on the 360.

It really depends on what types of games you like to play - if you are down with RPGs, then you absolutely can not go wrong with Oblivion.  It is deep, engaging and, graphics-wise, breath-taking.  As long as you go in knowing that it will take a long time to beat (and you are ok with that), then you should enjoy the experience.

I got a PSP for Christmas (along with Lumines 2, Spiderman, Star Wars, and GTA: Liberty City Stories).  Looking to pickup some more games and want some advice on must-have games that I should consider.

Thanks!

I guess I'm not saying that Halo 3 won't be great and that I'm not pumped to play it.  Rather, there are a lot of other 360 titles that I am looking forward to (GTA IV, Mass Effect, etc).  The original xbox was basically a one-trick pony - without the Halos, the xbox probably would have been a flop and we wouldn't have a 360 to play on right now.

The 360 seems to have a more diversified list of games, and already a ton of must-plays...  and Halo 3 isn't even out yet.
