[QUOTE="AcidSoldner"][QUOTE="eveileb-ekam"][QUOTE="AcidSoldner"]I still don't see why this isn't being developed for the HD consoles :(. Don't get me wrong this game looks great and I'm totally stoked for it but honestly I don't see any features that take advantage of the Wii or why i'ts being developed for the Wii over the Ps3/360. It seems a developer choice more than anything

What is the problem them? I assume you still get to play it?

Well ya, but a nicer presentation is always welcome especially since Mistwalker previously developed for the 360.

Well, they didnt want to. You can either take it, or leave it. Im sorry if I seem abrasive, but port begging is irritating beyond belief - in every thread for a good looking Wii game, we get these whiny responses. Well, tough - HD twin owners get countless games that would be a perfect match for the Wii control scheme, and we get some good games that you guys want. If you have both consoles, its win-win. Everyone needs to learn to just deal with it.

That is actually bad news imo, if they focused on online, the core game will probably be generic and mediocre

I did not like its visuals at all, but i was hoping for a great single player experince, my hype level just got destroyed and is now a wait and see game, probably a rent at best, unless a miracle happens and the online has not destoyed the game, like it has destroyed all online games

AbleFa3

Derp. Someone can't read.

The game is not built around online. It's mentioned as a separate component of the game.

Does not make any difference, having online means the game has 99% chance to be a generic mediocrity, there is a 1% that it is not so, but is rare

WKC1-2 is a good example of why not use online in your game

What about Demon's Souls? Red Dead Redemption? Uncharted 2? There are a variety of single player games with added on online components where the core game does not suffer. For every bad example, there are good, and The Last Story can fit into either.

[QUOTE="Thunderdrone"][QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]

yeah, if they can't do any better job naming it than to grab a copy of final fantasy and a thesarus then how can i trust them to make a game?

what other clever original titles was on the drawing board before The Last Story.

concluding tale?

hindmost epic?

terminating myth?

closing anecdote?

finishing allegory?

see guys there are clues to how these things are going to turn out if you look closely enough and not being able to name your game is a big red flashing light on the going to be crap checklist.

Riverwolf007

Are you serious :lol

not really since i don't know crap about this game but still i can't trust a dev that is not able to come up with something better than the last story. it's just silly... and so contrived to make you think final fantasy that it makes me think they are not imaginative.

The game comes from the grandfather of Final Fantasy, Sakaguchi. It has been stated in interviews that the name is a very deliberate choice. Mistwalker's previous games include Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, so use that to base the quality of this title on. :)

Ugh, port begging should be banned. Fanboys should learn to deal with their entitlement issues instead of whining about it, especially if they own the piece of hardware.

Epic Mickey looks amazing, and if its anything like other 7.5-8.5 games in the Wii's library, its a first day purchase for me.

Thanks for the info. I enjoy lurking in your hype threads, they are always so wonderfully constructed. It will be a shame to not have them for Wii titles anymore.

Firstly, games aimed at a mainstream and casual audience have driven the industry since the birth of the medium. Without these consimers, the industry would have collapsed in on itself. It would never have become as mainstream as it is now. Focussing on the niche interests of a few is counterproductive - what is wrong with everyone being able to enjoy games?

Secondly, evolution was necessary - control input hasnt really changed all that much, except getting more complex and adding more buttons. Motion controls can pave the way for new genres of games and, whilst this hasnt been seen yet, the potential is definitely there.

Well yeah the Overall Presentation wasn't "Metroidish" but Hey this is like one of Nintendo's Best Attempts at a Cinematic Game they've made and they did good.

LegatoSkyheart
They did average. They are woefully behind when it comes to delivering narrative in a traditional, cinematic sense. The games industry isnt exactly good at it themselves, but Nintendo are one of the worst. Their story telling works best when characterisation and world building is done through inference (like in Zelda, and the original Metroid games).

Because Samus has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/81909/ptsd-or-weakness-real-experts-on-why-samus-didnt-shoot/

makes a bit of sense of Why Samus didn't Shoot Ridley at first.

Half-Way

ya i saw the article a while ago, but couldnt bother to post it because it dosent matter,

people should care about the game and the gameplay, the story is awesome aswell iw heared,

if people cared so much for samuses "character" they would have reed the manga, and found a scene similar to the one in the game allready.

Not everyone is into purchasing manga of their favourite videogames, though. I havent bought the Halo or Assassin's Creed novels, and I havent watched the Resident Evil films - that doesnt make me any less of a fan. Fans can have their own opinions on the characterisation of a character dear to their hearts. Ultimately, your right in that the gameplay always comes first, but having a strongly delivered narrative can only be a good thing.

What an extremely interesting viewpoint. I am of the opinion that Samus' characterisation leaves a lot to be desired, and this is probably wholly to do with localisation.

The fight with Ridley confused me, because of the projections I have already made upon Samus' character. Viewing it in the context of a mental disorder, which in no way counteracts her "badass-ness" makes a lot more sense of the situation.

Still, Nintendo dropped the ball here. The story is actually quite good, but its delivery is dismal. It is a good job the gameplay is up to usual standards.

Dragon Age didnt really click with me until I got near the end of the game. I found it dull at first, but have since played it through multiple times, and nearly have the platinum trophy.

I would suggest starting as a Dwarf Noble Rogue with the dual weilding talents. This is because, once you get to Denerim, you can sell all of your excess inventory to Gorim for a greater profit, which allows you to get the best armour and weapons quicker. As a rogue, focus more on dexterity and cunning, and get the lethality talent as quick as possible, as it means your damage is affected by cunning, rather than strength. Stick with two daggers, so dont waste talent spots on things you dont need, and also invest in poison making and paralysis runes; a stunned enemey guarantees a critical hit / backstab for greater damage, and once you have the runes and poison stacked, you will be killing easily in no time. Dont be tempted to dual weild other weapons, especially two swords; daggers have a greater damage per second rating, which, wiith some talents, more than makes up the difference.

Also, make sure you have a warrior tank to absorb damage, a healing mage with some paralysis spells, and a long range fighter too.
