Wii's controller prices are a rip-off, considering Nintendo wants to appeal to families so they buy 3 more of them. That's expensive for a family console. And I would've been happier if they announced the price at 199.99 USD, since the Xbox360 Core is 299.99 USD. If a customer saw a Wii and a 360 Core game side-by-side and notice a 50 USD difference, there's a good chance they'd go for the more visually impressive system. Wii is basically a slightly better Xbox in terms of specs, yet can't even play DVDs (so it can't be the new family entertainment system completely). The original Xbox is now 129.99 USD, and its specs are very close to the Wii version. But to be fair, let's compare barebones Xbox console to the barebones Wii console: 299.99 - 29.99 (Wii Sports) - 60 (Wiimote + Nunchuck) = ~210 USD still, which is 80 USD more than the Xbox. I think Nintendo is ripping off the consumers in terms of how much it costs to make their new console. So I'll be getting my PS3 this year (knowing that Sony is actually losing a ton of money per PS3 made thanks to Blu-ray (where BD players cost over 900 USD alone) and CELL (which is the most powerful CPU compared to PC ones). I'll be getting a Wii when Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out. Oh, and Nintendo's not actually releasing a true Zelda Wii title at launch. It's merely a ported version of the delayed AGAIN Gamecube version.
What's with everyone complaining about the abunance of PS3 games? They're the only console that has shown little news up until recent weeks. Stop being fanboys and bashing it. I remember when Gamespot would show nothing but Xbox360 games non-stop with no mention of any PS3 games. Wii has had its fair share of the spotlight as well. It's PS3's turn, so all you fanboys stop being so annoying. As for people questioning the lack of Wii and Xbox360 games: Japan hates the Xbox360, so there's no point for MS to show off much Xbox360 games in Japan. As for Wii, well, up until last year's TGS, Nintendo never participated in it (since they had their own Spaceworld). Remember that Sony's Playstation brand is the dominant console in Japan by a landslide. Xbox360 did WORSE at launch than the original Xbox in Japan. Meanwhile, Nintendo Gamecube only had 1/6th of the Japanese market. So it makes logical sense that the Gamespot editors are looking forward to the PS3 games at TGS, since Japan is basically Playstation's territory. Nintendo rarely participates in TGS so the lack of games on the list makes lots of sense. Heck, I'm surprised they even have some. Just shows how badly they want to spread the word on Wii (which is smart since there's no more Spaceworld =( ) P.S. I'm getting all three systems eventually, and I already own DC, PS2, Xbox, and GC. So I'm not talking in the perspective of a fanboy, but a gamer who just can't stand them!
