@nickpeck36 @northArrow You hit the nail on the head, if you want digital you can go to steam and live long and prosper. However millions of Console gamers prefer physical media for all the benefits it brings.
MS pissed on their own cornflakes when they decided that removing one of the key reasons some people prefer consoles (physical copies, game sharing, trading etc) would be a good idea. Xbox one is a console, not a pc. A console has positives and negatives.
MS decided to remove the biggest positives from their console and expected it to come over a good thing.
@arqe @djroberts187 There will always be a market for physical media. CDs, Vinyl, DVDs, books have not gone away. Whilst there is a market someone will exploit it.
Also if what you say will happen happens it will be terrible for MS and Sony because over night millions of console owners will open Steam accounts.
@GermanBomber @djroberts187 @CaveManCobb The only way I think they come out of this on top is if they undercut Sony by a large margin, like $100 large, to compensate for all the bad taste they've left in our mouths.
Otherwise they're going to have their very own wii U.
@GermanBomber @CaveManCobb I guess the thinking is "if we bundle it in there people will have no choice, then they'll see how good it is and love it!" What you say is true no one will buy one on it's own so this is really the only way to make Kinect 2 a success.
However I think most of us would rather save $100 and jump get a PS4
