The Gamecube and Wii versions are the best. The PS2 isn't as good as the graphics look muddy, special effects are taken out, the game uses GC's cut scenes in FMV form for cut scenes (which sucks), the sound is muffled, less enemies on screen, etc. It's a superb port of the game, but to call the PS2 version's graphics not much of a difference over the GC/Wii is asking for an ass kicking.2deluxe

I don't agree. Sure the graphics are downgraded because of the PS2's hardware limitations, but just think about the extra mission added in Seperate Ways. You can double the lifetime and get a more developed story. I've also seen the Wii version and it's way too easy. The aiming doesn't require the same accuracy because of the Wii controls, and the crosshair actually changes color to indicate that your shot will hit its target... way too easy, takes away half the challenge.

It's a great game regardless of the console you play it on, but the PS2 version is simply better in my opinion.

I agree, 100% yay. I played it on the PC, and it might be the best adventure game I've played since Riven. But you don't have to be a Myst fan, it's totally different. Good characters, interesting story, and great gameplay. The fact that your successes and failures actually affect the story is also awesome, like taking control of a good movie!

General concesus: Resident Evil 4. I've been throught he game 4 times and I'm still not tired of it. Even finishing a single game is not something I often do, so RE4 is really one of a kind.

God of War series is also amazingly fun.

These are two games that didn't look too attractive to me and I only tried them because of the hype. And I found out the hype was justified.

The Ghost Recon series is both fun and hard, wounded with a limb shot, killed by a head shot.

There are more than 120 million PS2's in the world right now. About 5 million PS3's. There's still a huge market for PS2 games, so I think it can live on for a while. No doubt we'll see releases all through 2008 and probably 2009, especially for multiplatform titles. Very few PS2 owners are ready to pay big bucks for a PS3, so I think it's in the company's best interest to keep making PS2 games for a while.

Interesting..

But on Free Bird, for example, a part of the solo consists of repeatedly hitting four decreasing notes at a decent speed. You do that with three fingers? And in the next GH I'm guessing they'll throw a few 4-note chords, since it's already being done a lot in custom made songs and players seem to be asking for it..

I guess I'll try your technique of three fingers covering the middle buttons! But I say, with GH3 coming up, better start working that pinky :P

The neverending debate......

I'd be curious to know if there's an age bias on FF tastes. I'm inclined to think that "older" gamers, who were not wearing diapers when FFIV and FFVI hit north america, will prefer the early part of the series, probably up until IX. It seems like fans of the PS2 FFs are younger. New generation, different tastes?

Anyway, I'm one of the old guys, so I my reaction to FFX and up was "what the hell??" ;)

Hey, nice that you got the game, you won't regret it. Basically, you absolutely need to develop your pinky skills if you eventually want to nail the expert mode. If you're having trouble at first, start with easy mode. Then move on to medium and start working your pinky by exclusively hitting the blue button with it.

Now, I would seriously recommend that you don't spend too much time on the medium level. Why? Because at the hard level you get to move your hand around the handle to hit that orange button (most of the time still with your pinky). Playing medium for too long will make your brain associate the blue button to your pinky, but you have to unlearn that association when you play hard or expert. Anyway that was my Guitar Hero progression.

I don't see how anyone could play without the pinky but if it can be done I'd be curious to see.

Good luck and watch out for arthritis.
