its called natural distribution (or something like that)

if Sony sells half what they did last gen and MS the double, Sony still wins

look at this numbers, Nintendo didnt fall in 1 day, nor SEGA

NINTENDO
NES - 60 millions
SNES - 49 millions
N64 - 32,93 millions
GameCube - 21,52 millions

SEGA
Master System - 13 millions
Mega Drive - 29 millions
Sega Saturn - 10 millions
Dreamcast - 10,6 millions

SONY
PlayStation - 106,49 millions
PlayStation 2 - 115,36 millions (still selling better than anyone)

MICROSOFT
Xbox - 24 millions

Kane04

Things don't work like that.

I think PS3 will end up being the dominant console, but I know I'm the minority holding that opinion.

I can understand why many believe Wii will win though. The evidence is within the latest statistics so it's certainly not completely devoid of wisdom to claim that Wii will win the console war.

I personally think Sony has a lot of great titles coming to the PS3 so in the future the console will be able to justify its price, and plus, most consumers were very happy with their PS2 and that will end up being beneficial for the PS3. var dd1 = new YAHOO.util.DDProxy('maindiv');dd1.setHandleElId('titlediv');the-very-best

Stopped reading right there...

[QUOTE="Zhengi"][QUOTE="rexoverbey"]Wii numbers were only 100,000 more that's not that impressive for 360 being out a whole year ahead of it. On top of that that is only 1.2 Million a year more it would take Wii almost 9-10 years to surpas 360 in the US at that pace.rexoverbey
What the? The 360 hasn't even sold 10 million worldwide, let alone 10 million in the US. It's user base is around 5.5 million or so. Nintendo already has close to 2 million users in the US. If these trends continue, US sales of Wii will surpass the 360 by the end of this year.

Your math is way off. 360 has easily sold 11 Million worldwide with 8 million to the US. Wii only selling 100,000 more than 360 a month at the beginning isn't going to allow it to surpas 360 in one year get real. Plus you fail to mention 360 December sales were better for 360 than Wii (2 million 360, 1.8 million for Wii). Or did you also forget November #s 511,000 Xbox 360s, 476,000 Wiis and 197,000 PS3s?

The Wii outsells 360 by more than 100,000 each month.

[QUOTE="mskrft007"][QUOTE="Hoffgod"]As an econ major I can tell you in full honesty that what you've pointed out is completely and totally useless. Total profit! TP=TR-TC! That's what matters!

Profit is not as important rite now. Its the sheer amount of sales and at the cost of sales that is important, we are trying to guage the market demand and the factors involved with the demand here. A $600 product is selling not too far behind a $350 $250 and $129 product is what is standing out here.

profit is not important?
