Hi, For some reason my games keep randomly minimizing which is really getting annoying. There doesn't seem to be any particular pattern and it can happen in any game. I am running a fairly clean system and have run scans with spybot, malwarebytes and mcafee all to find nothing. When the games minimize it doesn't effect their running and i can just press the tab and restore the game but it obviously leaves me at a disadvantage when playing multiplayer games.

I would expect some kind of notification giving me some idea what program is wanting priority, but there is nothing to tell me what has just alt tabbed my game.

When it does happen i have tried opening task manager to identify the culprit but can see nothing amiss and i have stopped all non essential programs auto starting at windows launch.

I have a fairly old system now still running xp but it runs everything i want fine with the exception of this issue.

Any help identifying the problem will be greatly appreciated.

Yeah also getting tired of these fanboy threads, i mean yeah, I get it you love the game and think everything else is trash in comparison,good for you. Shouldn't you be like having fun playing it rather than coming to forums and making thread number 3747587 on why SC is the second coming? And why can't you be content with having this awesome game to play, is it really necessary to come here and trash other games, its fanboyism to a level that's becoming embarrassing now.

I live in England, my nearestGAME is in a place called junction32 near castleford, yorkshire. They have a decent selection of PC games for sale. there are all the new releases and then an entire large rack of back catalogue PC games. Granted the 360, ps3 wii etc dwarf thePC section but the PC section is certainly big enough and nowhere near dead.

I found the game quite scary and alot of fun, loved it. I found the atmosphere so immersive that i really got into the game. [MINOR SPOILER} There was one part where an invincible creature is chasing you near these sliding bookcases, i felt absolute panic lol.

Like someone said before, its just the in thing to hate crysis. I never had a problem with hitting anything and found the game to be enjoyable, maybe learn to aim?

Wouldn't even bother asking OP, you will get insta flamed by all Gates buddys on here. Tbh your not missing much anyway wasn't overly impressed with the game myself or tbh general direction of games of late. Pc has massive back cataloge of classic games with much deeper and immersive gameplay than some of this generic modern rubish we get now.

For the people asking, basically, vsync (vertical synchronization) synchronises every frame to your monitors refresh rate. So if your monitor runs at 60hz, the framerate will be 60fps. It takes power and time to achieve this.

The good -
Gets rid of screen tearing

the bad -
Caps your framerate
There's a performance hit
adds mouse lag

Some people notice screen tearing more than others. I notice it but don't mind it and would much prefer to have it over input lag. The only game where I found it unbearable was the new wolfenstein, the mouse lag with vsync on was worse than the tearing but that game was crap anyway so I just stopped playing it :D

Vsync with triple buffering at 60hz typically causes 32ms of mouse input lag.
Here's a simulation

Click the slider, move it as far as it will go to the left and then try moving the mouse around, that is with vsync off. Now move the slider up to 32 and move the mouse around, that is with vsync on.
The movement should feel floaty and sort of underwater and imprecise like you're a bit drunk. If it doesn't then you don't notice it, turn vsync on and enjoy zero screen tearing :D

I always have it on never noticed mouse lag before. Nice link but i couldn't see a difference between one side of the slider to another, guess im one of those that don't notice it.

I'm a really big fan of all the radio mods created and compiled by Fred8615 at subsim. He's created radio programs complete with songs, commericals, news, and variety shows that synch up with the actual dates in the game. Very immersive and good fun to listen to while you're cruising the waves.

Thanks for the info about grey wolf, have installed and am very impressed so far. Looks like some good mods on that site too will take a closer look if i can pull myself out of the game long enough :).
