Screencastify Screencastify Capture Extension Installation
One valuable way to help demonstrate learning is to capture an actual demonstration of the learning through video. Video screen capturing is a great method for teachers to give an online demonstration activity or for students to record an electronic product using their recorded voice, which describes the product.
Screencastify is an Austin ISD approved Chrome extension that allows staff and students the ability to add the extension themselves from the Chrome Web Store.
Instructions for students installing Screencastify
Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store is available to students. From there, any approved app can be downloaded. This is the only method to install the Chrome extension or Chrome app on an Austin ISD Chromebook. On the Chromebook, open the Chrome launcher, locate and open the Chrome Web Store app. To access the approved app list, click on the Austin Independent School District link. Install and locate Screencastify on this page.
The video below demonstrates how to get access to the Chrome web store and install Screencastify.
Capture Your Video
All students are able to make videos of up to 5 minutes long once the Screencastify extension has been installed. Before recording, practice your group presentation. Keep in mind that the presentation should not exceed 2 minutes in length. This video shows you what it looks like when you record the video of your life.
