this is just an nvidia driver problem. trust me. try different/older drivers. believe it or not loading time are mostly effected by your video card and the drivers. same goes for AMD/ATITheMistique

Unfortunately the 560GTX Ti is pretty new. There is just one driver that I can roll back to. All the older ones do not support 560.

I will try Furmark out tonight.

Crysis 2 was a fresh install.

When Fallout:New Vegas does finally load up it runs amazing. I don't think it isa PSU issue. I cannot remember exactly how big my PSU is. I think it is around 560W or so. I don't have that much extra running, 2 hard drives. E8400 as you guys know is pretty efficient as far as power consumption goes. I will check to see if it is the PSU though.

I posted a week or so ago about upgrading from my 8800GT to a 560GTX Ti. I ended up buying a MSI GeForce GTX560 1 GB (N560GTX TI TWIN FROZR II OC).

I installed the card Sunday and then tried loading Fallout:New Vegas. The load times were extremely long. I did not time them, but they were probably around 5-10 minutes (previously with my 8800GT they were 30 seconds). Then I tried loading Crysis 2 and it would not even load.

Why would a video card cause this issue? Any ideas what the problem is or how to fix it? I have never seen this in my life and have done video card upgrades multiple times. Is it anVidia driver issue?

I have already tried completely uninstalling the nVidia drivers and reinstalling them. This did not fix the problem.

This Gigabyte 560is $235. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125363&cm_re=560_gtx-_-14-125-363-_-Product

Is it worth another $25 for the one you referenced?

Also I noticed that these cards are not PCI-E 2.1 (while the newer ATI cards are). Does 2.1 make much difference (obviouslty not for me because I have an old mobo).

Thanks for the advice guys. It has been a long time since I have had an ATI card (10 years - 9800). I am still a little wary of catalyist drivers. So I think I will go with the 560.

I already have a pretty good cooler on my CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887011

Unfortunately I have not spent much time overclocking the E8400. I know that cooler is really good and I could easily get to 3.6-3.7. But as a married guy with kids I would rather spend what little time I havegaming versus overclocking.

I have not posted here in a long long time.

Anyway I am thinking of upgrading my video card. My current setup isan E8400, GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35, 4GB (2X2) OCZ Reaper DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500), GT8800. How effective will a video card upgrade be? I assume my CPU is not the bottleneck currently? How much of one will be if I upgrade.

Iwill likely be upgrading mobo, cpu and ram within the year (and keeping the video card obviously). I am trying to decide between Nvidia560 Ti, Radeon 6950, Radeon 6870.

Which card is the best option?
