@abHS4L88 @shadowhunter0 @GH05T-666 Now hold on abHS4L88. I don't think we should be singling someone out by saying he's the first EVER to say that. I don't think you meant it in an absolutist manner, but there are probably other people who thought it was too easy as well, given that there are probably even people who find Dark Souls easy.

No disrespect, but let's watch what we're saying in here. :)

@ExplicitMike @Sevenizz What? Whether it's a good system or not--which most agree N-Gage and Virtual Boy weren't--it still counts as a "launch title" if it's in the launch window. I'm not defending the N-Gage, but if what he says is true, Splinter Cell-Team Stealth Action WAS a launch title, so what's wrong with that example?

@tgwolf "Worthless" eh? Not one aspect of it was even remotely done properly? The game doesn't function at all? It doesn't have any graphics or gameplay?

I'm not saying the game's worth much, but to me, a word like "worthless" is supposed to be reserved for anything that scores a whopping zero, which to the best of my knowledge, nothing ever has.

@HADES2001 @ameerz @Sevenizz @death_dealerK *facepalm* Pong? Seriously? You're comparing games that require numerous program elements to one of the simplest, most easily programmed games ever created? If you expect all games--or even most--to be as bug-free as Pong, you're expecting far too much out of developers. I bet you almost anybody on this page would program a game like ZombiU much worse than the people who actually made it, but I'll be happy to retract this if there's anybody in here who programs these complex games for a living and actually works in the industry.

That said, if Pong genuinely IS bug-free, that's a good answer to ameerz's question.

@Sevenizz ...wow. That's pretty hilarious given how bad the N-Gage did. :)

@ExplicitMike I hear ya. We're battling simplified thinking in opposite directions. You're battling the claim that disliking the game makes you a hater, and I'm battling the idea that enjoying the game makes you an idiot.

Well, primarily I'm battling the idea that a developer who defends himself is automatically a thin-skinned whiny little b****, but I hate elitist BS in all its forms, so I'll defend those who enjoy the game as well.

@ExplicitMike No disagreement on RE 1-3 doing fine, and you're correct: atmosphere is probably what counts most. The problem is that atmosphere is an intangible. Developers can control the sound, they can control the graphics, they can control the technical aspects of the gameplay, but atmosphere is more something WE create in our minds, and not everyone will find it in the same places. The developers can make a real effort at it and play test to make sure it works, but it's not really something that gets directly controlled.

In addition, though I love the atmosphere in the early Resident Evil games, the atmosphere itself didn't always make for scary moments. For instance, the remake of RE1 on Gamecube kept an obvious jump scare where a zombie jumped out of the closet, even zooming in on the closet right before it happened. It was predictable and kind of dumb. Not that the games didn't end up being pretty scary still. Just that the mechanics contributed as well.

By the way, want to say that you've given a more reasonable response than most of the other critics I've encountered on this page, and I appreciate that. Thank you. :)

@shadowhunter0 @josetoronja Now THERE'S a reasonable complaint. I heard about that as well from a reviewer on YouTube. I DO find that ridiculous. Not necessarily a gamebreaker, but kind of annoying just the same.

Just so we're clear, I'm not saying the game is good. I honestly don't know if it is or not. I'm just arguing what I have often argued: that this isn't something simple and black and white. I often find that when developers respond to criticism of their games, they don't just whine like babies. They acknowledge the shortcomings--which this guy did--and then suggest very slightly that there might be something more to the equation. But too many gamers want to make it simple math: criticism + defense = butthurt. That's not necessarily true, and I find it kind of intellectually lazy to assume that.

No disrespect, dude. :)
