@jomipira But there has to be non-mmo games in the future. Thats all I'm saying. Publishers will figure out a way for non-mmo. Whats your language? Do you live in in USA?
@COPMAN221ISBACK I agree to a point, but f-t-p games will morph&merge with facebook style games, ie crappy. Still, many will play and $$$ will be made. I believe as tv (episodic experience, free to watch) didn't kill movies (one complete self-contained experience, one payment to watch), free-to-play won't kill the predecessor any time soon.
@jomipira you don't think people will fig out a way to spoof authentication keys or something? The piracy issue is moot because publishers can release non-micro-payment "feature length movie" games that require 1 payment with the same online protections.
Free-to-play makes sense in the short term bottom line sense. But it's also a genre shift, or even medium shift, as in feature film medium to tv series medium, a singular statement with a beginning middle and end, compared to successfully monetizing an endless stream of virtual objects and incremental story progressions. Just as tv series didn't kill features, I believe and hope f-t-p won't kill of great, singular stand alone games.
