My girlfriend is buying me a PS3 for my birthday (Score!).

I have a 360 already and love Halo, Burnout, Orange Box, among others.

What games should I pick up with the PS3? She said she will get me 2. Ive played COD4 on the ps3 quite a bit, and I really like it. As I said though, I have played it a lot and a friend who i see quite a bit has it so I could always play it there.

I dont really know what other games are good.... I hate sports games, Eg Fifa, NFL or whatever. Burnout paradise might be fun, is it any good?

Or would it perhaps be worth just getting an extra controller and buying MGS4 when it comes out? Ill be getting that for sure...

Any ideas? What games would you pick out of your game collections if you could only keep2 and had to throw the others away?

Sounds great!

Cool, well looks like it should be able to handle most games fine then, probably play Crysis around medium settings? At 1024 x 768... hopefully!

Yup ok im downloading 3DMark, is there no 07 version?

Awesome, Ill have to try out the Crysis demo, although it will undoubtably bring the system to its knees! I have Far Cry too, I might try that out.

Here are the system specs by the way, if anyone is interested:

ASUS P5K Intel iP35 Socket 775 Motherboard
Crucial 1GB PC2-6400 X2
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz (775)
Sapphire
x1950pro

Hopefully should run pretty nicely.

OK so I am currently building a new PC for uni.

It is primarily for desktop apps and work, but It should have enough beef to run some games nicely. I havent really been into PC gaming much for the last year or so, so Ive pretty much totally lost track of technology and games and such. Basically I just want to know some good demos or something that I could test its power with? I remember when i got my old card for my curent pc (see sig) I downloaded a load of Nvidia tech demos which were cool, will those not work with an ATi card? Also do ATi do thier own equivilent?

Really I just wanna push the PC and see how well it can run games and how pretty it can make them look. So, any suggestions?

Is that 1 or 2gb of RAM? Thats a great price if its 2GB

For the graphics card, the X1950Pro is better now (and always will be), so unless you are interested particularly in DX10, I would go for it!

I would also change the motherboard to a P35 DS3R by Gigabyte, its still great and a fair deal cheaper. (I think!)

All in all a pretty nice system! :)

Yeah thats 2 1gb sticks, they are about £30 each

I think I will go for the x1950pro, seems like a better card after looking at benchmarks and stuffs.

That gigabyte board seems to be about the same price as the asus one, at least where im looking!

Right, this is what I have pretty much decided on, apart from the graphics card:

ASUS P5K Intel iP35 Socket 775 Motherboard - £ 64.95

Crucial 1GB PC2-6400 X2 - £ 59.10

LG GSA-H62NBAL 18x SATA black bare - £ 16.50

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO - £ 12.95

320GB Western Digital Caviar SATA2 16MB - £ 89.90

Gigabyte Triton Black - £ 39.95

Akasa 500W PaxPower ATX2.2 PSU - £ 44.95

52 in 1 Card Reader Black with USB - £ 3.99

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz (775)- £ 104.95

All prices from aria.co.uk

Does that look like a good balanced system? Should it run well?

I cant decide on a graphics card, however.

Currently im looking at either:

Asus Extreme 8600GT 512MB Silent PCI-E

Or

Sapphire Radeon X1950 PRO 512MB PCI-E

They are both pretty much the same price, however the Nvidia card supports DX10 whereas the Ati one doesnt.... what do you think?

np mate. and yes, this rig will handle next games like Crysis very well

P.S. The prices are from ebuyer.com

dayaccus007

haha, awesome! I thought you would have to be spending £1000+ to be able to run a game like that decently... cool :)

Hmmm, i might get a lower end gfx card and a better CPU intead... what do you think?
