[QUOTE="big_smoke_666"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] Lowers the temperatures on your processor, allowing you to overclock it to something around ~4.2 ghz while maintaining its stability. Boosts the value and speed of your processor an insane amountKHAndAnime

hmmm would it just take a fan? cos if it's that cheap i'll do it

[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]It's worth getting an aftermarket heatsink for your i7. KHAndAnime

pardon my ignorance but what does that do?

30fps or more in Crysis is considered good. Very playable and enjoyable. The ATI 5850 will run the game at 1080p (the max resolution of the monitor you're getting) with max details at over 30fps. You won't be able to crank the AA up, but it will look and run great.

The PSU that you linked to will work perfectly. Great choice. The only Nvidia cards that can compete performance-wise with the ATI 5800 series are the new GTX 470 and 480. I don't know how it is in Australia, but you can't even find one here right now (US). Plus they're more expensive, use more power, and get much hotter than their ATI counterparts.

hartsickdiscipl

is the lack of anti aliasing noticible?

ok thanks for the info yeah i'll order that one instead of the coolermaster one then

and yeah i don't think that Nvidia card will fit into my budget and yeah you have to pre order them over here i think they are all sold out aswell

thanks alot for the help mate =]

oh yeah my monitor will be a BenQ 24" G2420HD LCD so is 30 fps good for crysis? (i'm a bit of a noob when it comes to PC gaming)

and also hartsic with the PSU i need to get one from the aussie site PC Case Gear and this was the closest i could find will it do?

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_354&products_id=12918

and about the grapics card will it make a big impact or barely noticible if i get an Nvidia one?

thanks for the quick responses guys

hi guys building a new computer for the purpose of doing multimedia design (After Effects, Photoshop, maya etc) and some gamingand i was wondering what you thought of the hardware i have come up with

specs:
Asus Rampage II Gene
Intel i7-930 2.8gz
6gb RAM 1600Mhz
ATI-Radeon HD5850 1gb GFX card
WD Caviar 2TB HDD
2X 22X DVD Multi Drives
Win7 Home Premium 64bit
Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 600W PSU

and for the case i was going to go with the Cooler Master Storm Scout

how does this look for multimedia and gaming?

please suggest any parts you would change out for others of similar price

also would i be able to run Crysis on this?

thanks for the help anyone who replies =]

ye it works

imprezawrx500
obviously you have it then do you recommend 64bit over 32bit? and can you run 32 bit programs on a 64bit system?

buying 32bit is the most stupid thing you could do. max of 3.3gb ram and maya or photoshop would have no problem eating all of that up. 64bit os runs all 32bit apps just fine. Often better than the 32bit version of windows.

lol yeah i know just for a laugh i'll tell you a story i do a course in multimedia (cannot stand Mac though haha) and i have been doing Maya, PS and after effects work on an acer laptop with 1gb of RAM running Vista. . . it once took me 5 hours to render 5 seconds of 25 frames a second animation from Maya. . . also i cannot actually physically run my browser while running any other programs haha anyway what do you think of the computer i'm thinking of buying i'm not sure if it's good enough. . .
