@frigginjoe Thats a good question. I think they are looking for game support for the O-Rift, and with this supposedly being a big upcoming title, they want to advertise the Rift for use with it, but cant do it, so are trying to call them out on their failures.

Interesting, we will probably see more and more of this in the future.

All we have heard about since the PS4 and Xb1 launch is lack of resolution and power. Its not stopping either.

@grove12345 I dont think these VR developers are explaining themselves very well. Its all coming back to game and VR developers being unhappy with the power of the new consoles. I think they were all hoping for far more power.

3D or VR systems like Rift, and Morpheous need to draw the picture twice. So if the game runs at 60 fps without issue, then they should be able to implement the game with a VR system, 30 fps each eye! If it can only run at 30, it means splitting it would be 15 fps is what you are seeing, or even less. SO! Basically they wont be able to make a VR experience with it, simply meaning less and less games are going to be usable with these VR systems. They are speaking out about it, because if games wont work with it, people arent going to buy it!

But the game devs have to be carefull about what they say, so as not to fall out with Microsoft and SONY.

Its a funny back and forth PR game so far! If this tech worked as they promised, it would be great! But, I have a 3D TV & Monitor, and they were a huge waste of money!

I have tried the O-Rift as well, and its pretty cool, but it doesnt work as well as it sounds. It isnt 1080 per eye, its a weird 1024*768 combined! You can see every pixel, and even on an ultra fast game, it lags by well over a full second.

It seems we just dont have the tech for it yet, I dont see this doing well. Soon for the same price you will get an amazing 1080 ( or higher res! ) monitor/TV. IPS 600hz refresh, progressive scan, etc, etc. Which will just produce a beautifull picture!

TIme will tell, but they have been trying to launch the OR for around 3 years now without much success, or support!

@mikusboi @AuronAXE Yeah totally agree. PC gaming is still complex even for newcomers. Half the time with a new game is spent setting things up, wondering why the FPS is so low, why certain things dont work, and reading through forums where people are mostly no help, adn then waiting a month on a patch!

Im a PC gamer, have been for years, and wouldnt deny this for a second.

Its funny with this new console generation. I think its because HDTVS are out now, the last consoles advertised 1080, but didnt really deliver, upscaled images, and now people are thinking "wheres the big boost, the difference?"

And now you have more and more gaming sites, youtube video makers etc, ranting on about the subject, and saying that "there is no difference! " Or simply not enough to justify. And in the mix of all this they are comparing it to PC's!

When they compare the perfomance, there are some things I dont get... Sure PC's are more powerfull, but when I look at Ryse Son Of Rome, or some of the REALLY good looking games. I couldnt imagine that running as smooth on a PC? I have seen ports of great looking games really struggle...?

@pseudopsiakite Good comment man! The companies are confusing people more and more regarding FPS and resolution. Ive been a PC gamer for years, and know about these things, but people gaming on the last generation weretn even aware for the most part that there games were rarely even 720, even though the box said 1080p on the back of it! lol.

I do understand why people are still put off PC gaming though. I had a friend round gaming, and I had to update the game, then ad a mod which sounded cool, mess with an .ini file. Before I was even finshed his mind was just blown! "No way, I dont even care anymore, lets watch TV Instead! " lol.

I remeber when the original XBOX came out, and I seen a sports game on it over the PS2 version, it was running at 60 FPS, and the difference was crazy! WHen you go back to that with some AAA titles with fancy graphics but low FPS, you just notice something missing.

For those of you saying that it can look good artisticaly, I totaly agree! I Used to love many PS1 games that had sub-20 fps grainy graphics, and it gave them a really creepy atmosphere. Silent Hill is a perfect example! If it ran at 60 fps, I think it would take something way from the atmosphere!

Although, I dont think he is making his point clear. If any of you have tried the O-Rift, or like me had wasted money on a 3D TV and a PC to run the games, you will know over 60 fps is usually required.

For some reason, some games can run the picture at different angels and sync it twice ( Needed for 3D, or VR! ), and some cannot, they need all the horsepower they can get so that each eye is seeing at least 30 fps, if not it looks horrible, and lags, etc.

I believe this is what he means. If they are really choosing that as a style, great! But if they are just saying this because 30 fps is the most they can get out of the system, that means Occulus RIft, and Morpheus will not be compatible. Or if they were it would be practically unplayable!

There has been a lot of discussion about this recently and the lack of hardware power and developers not being honest about it, could really break any chance of these VR devices having any success.

Its one of these things they are advertising it as a great experience, but once you get it you find it can be overly-complex to set up and use.

I found this with 3D gaming. It is not compatible with many games, and 1st person shooters and racing games have the most trouble with it, and should really be the best experiences!

I tried the O-Rift in a store, and it was OK, but it was playing Euro Truck Simulator 2! lol. And it had a lot of lag, when you moved your head, pressed any control.

It was cool-ish, but you would have to try it to really see the flaws. You can see every pixel! Little things like that.

Anyways, hope some of you found this informative. I dont see the power or the support being there for these devices to be popular. Especially since the same was the case with 3D tV's and still is!

The 3D function on my TV has not even been turned on for over a year now! And for the price of these devices, in not too long from now, you are going to be able to get if not a 4k TV, then at least a pretty stunning 1080+ LES, or IPS based TV, that will improve the picture quality of your gaming, and the response time almost 10-fold!

TIme will tell!

Peace out!

Hey! Im not saying EA or Activision are perfect. They are both have money to spend, but there are many titles that they do not care about how happy you are with them, how much content is delivered in the DLC, etc. They want you buying a 4 year old title, by download, over retail price. They work for their shareholders, and for people who make content and Art, that is capitalism at its worst.

At the same time, how many titles do you see getting released that get scores of 2/10? Not too many. Not many have-a-go developers. Outside of indie games, when you pay full retail for a game, that is a good thing. Even Movie tie-in games are getting to be simply GOOD games. In exception of anything SEGA makes!

I hate DLC! And I hate the " If you dont like paying for it, Dont buy it! " attitude towards it, thats why its still here. This stuff used to be free. Its simple add-ons. On the PC peopel make them themselves. MODS, additional maps. Because some of you out there dont mind wasting money on Horse Armour, its still here, and its even getting more expensive. IF you dont like seeing famine and death, turn off the TV! That attitude makes everything allowable and OK!

Not sure if Im answering this right, basically, buying, or making an engine for a game to run on modern platforms is so expensive, the people doing it will only get the money if they have "some" degree of talent, or are willing to spend their own money, meaning that they are passionate, and will make at least a reasonable game. Not utter crap. And that is a good thing. WHen the PS1 was out I had every good game, or every one I was at least interseted in playing. Now there are so many, I could never afford them all, and will never have a fraction of the time to play them.

For good, fun, content-rich games, we are spoiled for choice nowadays. That is a good thing!
