The way you describe how to install Java mods is incorrect. The reason is because when you place the java mod file into the mod folder, it will just perform as a standard mod until a different one in another area of the ".minecraft" folder is used. This is what I mean:
1. Copy/cut the jar files but don't put them in yet. Open the versions folder and create a new folder based on what you want to name it 3. Paste the jar file in the folder you just made. Copy the jar file into the folder and then paste it again with an alternative name 5. Open the jar file using notepad, copy all of the text and close the file 6. Copy the file and delete it. Create another file (mostly an text file) and name it exactly like the jar file 8. When it is written exactly as the Jar file, save the file with the name as an .json file 9. Open the json file in Notpad and copy the next 10. Launch the launcher and choose the mod you "made
10,5. If this isn't working If this doesn't work, follow these steps: Open the versions folder and select a folder you don't need (if the mod uses 1.7.10, you need to find a folder that runs the 1.7.10 Minecraft version 12. Copy the jar file into the folder you have selected. Change the name to match the JSON file. Start the launcher and choose the version.
If you are unable to locate the folder you're looking for, go back to the folder for versions then look the folder after the last edit and rename it however you like. I suggest renaming the files in that folder exactly as the folder is named.
