Nintendo it would seem like most Japanese gaming companies or most big companies in general just don't understand or see the writing on the wall. Things always change and you can recognize and adapt or you can stay the course and fail.

When Nintendo was an unstoppable juggernaut was during the NES-SNES era, when they made traditional consoles with equal or above power, a traditional controller, and the full support of 3rd party. Then along came the era of being slow to adapt with the N64 non traditional controller and failure to use CDs, GameCube weird controller for no reason, specialized discs to combat piracy, and no 3rd party support, Wii gimmick motion controls, underpowered console, total abandonment of 3rd party, no online multiplayer, no game chat, and finally WiiU horrible name, gimmicky controller, under powered system, high price, all aspects of online still far behind competition, and total abandonment of 3rd party.

Maybe Nintendo will return to their once prominent self, but 4 consoles of the same thing says otherwise. Maybe they'll learn when they're close to being another Sega story.

Next gen meaning something that's not able to be done on the last gen. And no not something totally original titanfall is a good start because it does take lots from other games and puts it all together in a very familiar way and makes it fun. But just things that can't be experienced on last gen consoles. What games do you think will make us say WOW!!!

I understand but what I'm asking what games do you think will usher in some off the things we as gamers will feel like could only be achieved because of next gen. Titanfall while very fun and a good game is not next gen.

Is it games like the Witcher, Evolve, Destiny, The Division, No mans sky or any other game be perceived as truly next gen? Or maybe some title we haven't heard of?

Just interested on seeing what my fellow gamers think. I'm fortunate to have a PC, Wii U, PS4, and XB1, so I've played lots of games. But as of yet still waiting for the game that's offering something more, something we truly couldn't do before. What do you think those games are?

Titan Fall, because it's first out the gate, also Halo 5 because it's the only true exclusive to XB 1.

OMG here it is casuals don't purchase enough of anything to make it worth while. They all need loyal steady purchasing consumers not I'll buy the Xb 1 sold at a lost to MS, and 1 or 2 games a year if they're lucky. Casuals definitely didn't keep Nintendos profits high through Wii's life span hence the low attach rate. And word of advice not many parents are jumping to buy their kid a $400-$500 gaming console.

This has been a primary concern of mine. A lot of these games being released are being released for current gen and next gen. If these games are capable of being played on the current gen systems, why should I bother buying a next gen console in the first place? Does anyone remember how often this happened last time the industry was transitioning console generations?BadNewsBen

With a couple of titles in the very begining, but until this next gen of systems gets a sizeable install base just be ready to see games on both sets of hardware.

[QUOTE="antwon78"]

Why is it that Microsoft thinks that this mythical casual market is the future to the XB 1? Everything that they presented can and is already done on a slew of devices. Why don't they understand pricing would be the #1 motivator for casuals. $400-$500 consoles, $60 games, and movies that cost the same as dvds and blu rays equal no sale. It's all about price point but they don't seem to understand. I will say this their strategy for this gen hasn't been revealed yet so maybe they understand this, but nothing from last gen shows they do.

Jaysonguy

1. The casual started following the 360 and a good chunk of all 360 usage is casuals watching things on their 360

2. They already have the casual hooked after the Xbox One reveal

Whoever gets the casual wins the generation. Right now Microsoft is in the driver's seat and it's up to the others to catch up. We see that casual money being used with exclusives in Modern Warfare and FIFA. Two of the biggest games worldwide and Microsoft is giving their users exclusive content for them.

1. No one brought an XB 360 for netflix usage sorry to tell you, and just because netflix is a very used feature on xbl there's nothing showing that hardcore gamers aren't the same people utilizing the extra features of xbl gold.

2. Where's this vote from any casual gamer, who more than likely didn't even know MS had a confrence?

Whoever gets casual market gets 1 thing and that is 1 sale with no promise of future sales, ask Nintendo how that worked for them?
