I was betting that Skul would make its way eventually! Can’t wait to give it a shot!

A fine pick, but I’m a little torn. Having played (and loved) the games I felt that there was something a little off about the whole season. Maybe it was just the pacing, maybe it was kind of knowing what was going to happen? My SO absolutely loved it though and I think we both generally really enjoyed it!

@redviperofdorne: I feel like being in the hobby for a while gives you enough experience to know when a studio is being a little too silent about a game. This game had that stink on it for quite some time.

Warlords come in all shapes, sizes, and strategies. If it's all just buff people, that's not as interesting to me. I mean, she's exactly the kind of person who could instigate the overthrow of an oppressed QZ. She's the kind of person you'd want to confide in, who likely would commiserate with you and slowly stoke the flames without ever being suspected. Then she's the one to speak up because she knows she can convince other people to risk the first movements for her. I thought the partnership between her and Perry showed that pretty well. I imagine this is roughly what Isaac from TLOU2 could have been like early on in his warlord career.

Mazin and ND have done an excellent job adapting this to TV. Not that it was exceptionally hard, but most of the changes they've made in adaptation feel rooted in reality and add to the unnerving atmosphere. We'll see if they can continue delivering on the emotional highs (and lows) yet to come. I figured this news was only a matter of time, but I'm really excited to hear it nonetheless!

"As a hobby, tabletop games have a relatively low cost of entry--all you need is a handful of dice, a few shared books, and your imagination. In fact, you might say it's one of the hobby's best attributes."

This is the crux of the issue for me. DnD at it's heart should be about sharing resources and COMMUNAL storytelling. The more barriers you put up, the more people will resist. Why can't I share content if I could just lend my book out to my friends to make a character? And in a space where the game is predicated on players making things up for themselves, why wouldn't you just continue to do that instead of paying for more stuff that's ultimately not necessary?

Not to mention how many other great options there are. Blades in the Dark/Band of Blades are great games fully contained in $40 books. Coyote & Crow, Spire, Lancer, Mork Borg, Symbaroum....there's just so many great alternatives that will only gain more quality of life apps and tools as more players gravitate towards them.

That's actually a low-key nice month! An entry into a great souls-like, an anthology of family-friendly games, and a really fun co-op game that's good for an afternoon of laughs! Really like the mix!

@mogan: That's what it is!! I couldn't quite put my finger on what game this one reminded me of. I was on "bio-horror The Witness", but that never quite fit. It's exactly as if someone looked at Myst and said, "what if it was all fucked up looking and you had to shoot stuff, but in like the most arduous way possible".

@rizenstrom: I'm seeing a lot more stans for this game than I ever would have thought throughout various comment sections. This game, from my understanding of reading several reviews, is exactly what it looked like: an incredibly visually-intriguing walking simulator with oddly tacked-on, rudimentary gunplay. I'm actually surprised that the metacritic is as high as it is.

The fact that this might be a "good game" is completely irrelevant to the draw of it, so anybody getting upset at a 4/10, or trying to cope by pointing out the higher metacritic, seems to be missing the entire point. It's not a great game, but the visuals and the general art direction will still make it a worthwhile play for many people.
