This is a very well thought out article that I enjoyed reading. Thank you, Tom. Having been repeatedly disgusted by games like God of War, Call of Duty and Warfighter for their wash and repeat approach that tries to sell on a platform of pointless violence, I find myself in near-complete agreement with your thesis.

However, it remains a highly unscientific hypothesis that violent video games beget violent people. The hyperviolence of American culture is uniquely American; violent video games are not. I wish American politicians understood this.
