Trophies are stored in Sony server. so that's not a problem.

The only thing is if you have download anything (game or demos) from playstation store from that account.

You would want to deactivate the account before you delete the user. Otherwise, you will lose 1 precious spot out of 5 allowed activation.

credits go to wife who would save money.

be tactical. counter her good points. show her that getting ps3 is not spending more but saving more.

  1. use netflix (ps3 can stream netflix) or only buy blu-ray discs for $10 - this should cost like same or similar to DVDs.
  2. consolidate your gaming consoles. Sell at least 1 console & its games. - so in her eyes, you still only have 2, not 3 consoles.
  3. raise extra cash instead of paying out of pocket
    1. garage sales or sell some stuffs you don't need on ebay - cash generation & get rid of stuffs to make your move to new house easier in the future.
    2. shop great deals on hot items then sell them for profits.
  4. lower the cost, look for holiday deals on ps3 - like walmart & best buy have ps3 with 2 hot games for $299.99. Selling the games would mean your ps3 only cost around $250.
  5. buying used ps3 games. blu-ray discs are scratch resistent. Soused game's conditions are often very good. - this saves money in the long run.

If you do all these, you will end up saving more money towards the house + a ps3.

This works for me almost all the time:

1. use some water and a plastic card (could be credit card) to remove any paper residue from the sticky first

2. now with only the sticky left. Get a piece of packaging tape. Tape it on the sticky. The pull the tape. Some of the sticky will now stick to the tape. Repeat it until all sticky gone.

help yourself to get PS3 80GB MGS bundle (come with dualshock 3), instead of a handicapped 40GB. PS3 has upscale capabilities on PS2 games.

Consider it will last for years. The $100 difference makes no difference.

i dont know why ppl who want to get a gorgeous PS3 have to wait 3 months for it...:| i mean for this bundle ...

of course it's a personal choice.

but if you would definitely get MGS and want a dualshock 3, it's a good value bundle.

if you can't wait, you can buy now. But it's hard to get a new 60GB or 80GB unless you go ebay plus the controller will not be dualshock.

that's what i would do if i am to buy a new PS3. And i think that's money well spent.

PS1 & PS2 games are still region lock on PS3

So you need asia version of FF VII & FF VIII.

You can get the international versions which I believe have the english options.

ok, do this.

sell your 40GB HDD and get $25.
sell your sixaxis and get $25.

buy $120GB HDD for $70 or less.
buy dualshock 3 for $60 or less.

now, math time. (Assume your 40GB PS3 is $400)

$400 - $25 - $25 + $70 + $60 = $480

you are now a happy camper with everything you want for less

I think the bottom line is money.

PS2 is still alive and makes a lot of money. They want to sell PS2 stuffs & PS3 stuffs in parallel.

the HD transition would still take a few years. Before the transition is over, PS2 would still be around to help Sony make up the loss from PS3.

I would not be surprise when Sony stops PS2 production a few years down the road, they may as well offer a software only PS2 emulation through firmware updates and start selling PS2 titles on PSN. by then, they may even have PSP 2 that can play PS1 & PS2 PSN games.

Technically, it won't happen.

ICO is a PS2 game. PSN is only for PS1 & PS3 games.

Unless 1 of following situations occur:

1. Sony enhances PS2 emulator to software only and make it available to 40GB version through firmware update. Unlikely, Sony wants you to continue buying PS2 consoles and games.

2. ICO team remakes it as a PS3 game. Unlikely. ICO team will put their efforts on their new amazing ideas.

So, don't wait. Buya mint copyfrom ebay. Play it. Then sell it back at ebay.

Getting a 73" HDTV without a PS3?

With experience on PS1 & PS2, you know most, if not all,and the best HD RPGs will arrive at PS3.

With blu-ray winning, PS3 is theONLY future proof blu-ray player at the moment.

if pricing is of concern, still get PS3 before you get HDTV. Price drop on HDTV definitely goes faster than PS3.

I believe there are deals from Sony.

If you get a Sony credit card, you can get PS3 $100 off.

If you get a select Sony HDTV, you get PS3 free.
