Absolutely nothing will go wrong if life never happens anywhere, there is no driver in known science or physics that demands life must occur somewhere. And the odds are that the 4 billion year figure gives 0.01 percent odds, apparently, so the planet being around that long only gives, well, 0.01 percent odds.
@MrNWatson Mmm I'm not saying it's wrong; I'm just thinking, if this is the case, a logical mind would recognise the alternatives are 1) we showed up at 0.01 percent odds randomly or 2) some sort of intentional creation or alignment of circumstances by an outside party was involved. Which is interesting, as the question becomes: Which is more ridiculous, believing we are the 1 in 10000 chance, or that there's an outside agent or party that we are unable to directly detect involved?
