Nice :)

Does not affect me much as I have Dish network which pretty much comes standard with a DVR, however I give Sony props!

Especially since this was something MS was always rumored to do, crap what was that E3 2005 or so? I'm a little disapointed in MS for not bringing IPTV to life as they said they would, and a little impressed with Sony for bringing the DVR to those who have been without :)

[QUOTE="BZSIN"]A game should be reviewed for what it is, not what it could be. If a game ships with no multiplayer, then it should be reviewed strictly as a single player experience, regardless of whether you think it should have multiplayer or not.slystallion26

I agree...but i mean geez ...once you've played one fps mp...you've played them all honestly

i want to see online mp be a bit more innovative than repetetive shooting deathmatches...

how about a friggen powerstone remake or something with like 12 fighters in an arena where you can even balance it with projectile objects...now that sounds like fun...

First off, I agree with everyone who brought up 2 seperate scores. I have been waiting for this for a long time. Some games are clearly designed for one or the other. Some people obviously prefer one over the other.

TC, I had to reply to you however because I hate to see you generalize online MP as just repetitve shooting deathmatches. Glancing at your gamercard and score, it doesn't look like you've really tried much else.

I recently had a lot of fun with Soul Calibur, I've got a friend who keeps telling me how fun Civilization Revolution is online. Hell, one of my favorite MP games on 360 is still UNO.

Why don't you try out some different genres before you decide you don't like the experience?

Just turned 30, and while I don't play games as much as I used to, I still play alot. Although sometimes I like doing research on games and reading about new hardware etc. more so than the actual gaming.

I was more obsessed with gaming as a child though.... I loved my Coleco Vision, gaming then just felt so magical in a way, I guess because I didn't understand it the way I do now.

So in conclusion, I see my game time reducing in the future, maybe, but I'll never stop gaming..... my son sure is lucky, he'll have all the new video gaming equipment most likely b4 the rest of his friends. I cannot wait til he's old enough to play a good MMO or do a Co-op Campaign with me in something like HALO or GEARS.... well Gears is a bit violent, but I'm not one of those those over protective gotta shield my child from everything thats not covered in Rainbows and Bunnies, kinda parents.

Veterngamer
Me too :) Sometimes I find myself on here more than actually playing. I am close to 32 and started out on an Intellivision ;)

I try to pretend I'm not nerdy but, alass, I am.

I had some 16 year old earlier try to tell me Killzone 2 was coming out multiplatform, I had to correct him, but somehow just felt embarrased knowing such info :)

[QUOTE="CubeJL"][QUOTE="EddyPee"][QUOTE="CubeJL"]

[QUOTE="EddyPee"]So what you're saying is that even WITHOUT the Wii, the XBox360 and PS3 would still be selling fairly poorly?EddyPee

Clever. But no. I am saying that the PS3 and 360 will continue to sell in spite of the Wii.

PS2 sold 120 million, didn't it? So that arguably is Sony's core audience. But the Wii is taking that audience away, and thus really is dishing it to Sony.

And you can't say that Sony and MS wouldn't willingly swap places with Nintendo and the Wii.

Notice in my original post that I give full credit to Nintendo as far as sheer scale of business is concerned. What am I proposing is that there is a market, a slice, of customers that the Wii will not appeal to. This is the market that will continue to drive PS3 and 360 sales.

As far as switching places, I doubt it. I think next generation we will likely see MS and/or Sony offer gaming solutions that will try to capture both markets, including the new market Nitendo has uncovered. But that is a discussion for another thread.

I'm not saying the Wii and PS3 aren't selling. I'm saying they're not selling as well as they would if the wii didn't exist.

Every console attracts some people who aren't in it's supposed 'core audience'. The Wii is taking away these - and more - of MS and Sony's customers. I suspect by 'customers the Wii will not appeal to' you mean people who consider themselves too hardcore for the Wii. Sony and MS's 'core audiences' are being eaten into by the Wii. Every console will have at least a small slice of the market, even if it's only made up by hardcore lemmings or cows. That does not mean that this is their 'core audience'. If Sony and MS believe themselves to be selling well to their 'core audience' then they've either aimed remarkably low for such big companies or changed their core audiences to avoid embarrassment.

No, you are correct. Wii is taking away from the other consoles. People who may normally gravitate to 360 for Banjo Kazoooie or PS3 for Little Big Planet are happy with their Wii.

I do however feel like Nintendo has shifted their focus. The install base which stuck with Nintendo for so many years did not make them rich, so instead now they are focused on this new group of consumers (wii sports/play enthusiasts), they are the ones making them rich and they are the ones to be catered to with Wii Resort and Wii Music.

[QUOTE="CubeJL"]

If FFXIII came to the Wii I would wager it would be either a drastically scaled down version or a completely different / re-engineered experience. My point is that those studios and gamers who want something a bit more high fidelity than that which the Wii can offer will always seek asylum elsewhere.

Tylendal

If what you say is true, then they'd go to PC, because that blows all the consoles out of the water in terms of "high fidelity" gaming.

And, I think that popadophalis was referring to FFXIV

You try to put the PC out there???? People buy a 360 or PS3 for a next gen experience. People buy a Wii for a last gen "but something different" experience.

Wii gets alot of the same games as PS3 or 360, but they are the same dumbed down version the PS2 gets, if you are happy with that then so be it.

Don't know if this ever came to pass but not too long after Itagaki left, there was a rumor of 36+ people following him. Link

If that was the case, well, Tecmo may retain the Team Ninja name, but without the head developer nor 30+ developers, Team Ninja may as well be dead.

"Not only is the game coming to the console, but it will arrive on the same day and date as the PlayStation 3 edition of the game, with no timed exclusivity of any kind."

No one has said this, the Xbox 360 is perfectly capable of decent RPG's its just does not have many, Lost odyssey is all that comes to mind, don't give me infinite undiscovery or the last remnants or any of that bulls***. Lost odyssey is all there is. That being said yes Final Fantasy will be sweet, it's just always a little unsettling when a company makes such a gigantic movement from one system specific engine development to going multiplat mid game production, Id be weary of slowdowns....on both versions due to this news. WOWZORS

Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect??

How are Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant "bs"?? Both should be out by Christmas, along with Fable 2 and Tales of Vesperia.

I don't know if it is coming out day and date with the PS3 version, although G4 claimed it was (in the US anyway).

However, I don't see many PS3 fans being overly upset about getting games like Oblivion, Bioshock or Eternal Sonata a year late.

In other words, even if 360 does get it late, they are STILL getting it.
