@Kunakai Well, to be honest, it's very hard for me nowadays to look at a game and know whether I'll like it or not. Most games, especially the ones with big budgets, get overhyped. Personally, when I look at Overwatch, there's not much I like on the surface. I don't particularly like the aesthetic (even though I respect the style and think it's well-done) and I don't particularly feel amazed by the gameplay videos in any way. All I know is that Danny seems to have a similar taste in FPSs as I do. So if he genuinely likes it, there's probably a chance that I'll feel the same when I get to play it.
@cyloninside Blizzard's been rehashing other people's ideas for a while now. Warcraft and Starcraft aren't exactly genuine, it's just that we got used to these franchises for such a long time now. I think what you're trying to say though is that Blizzard's own identity and substance doesn't quite seem to translate through Overwatch. Like, visually and gameplay-wise it looks more like something Valve would make rather than Blizzard...
Alright Danny, so you liked it a lot and said that it's great. In that case I'm looking forward to play it. If I remember correctly, you're a fan of FPS games and once mentioned Unreal Tournament being one of your favorite games of all time? Unreal Tournament is my favorite FPS of all time as well. I'm looking forward to give Overwatch a try one day then , but I am holding you accountable : P
@dannyodwyer While I think that Shelled's comment was pretty hysterical, I can't help but feel like you've sold out, Danny. You know very well why Diablo 3 broke records in sales. At that point Blizzard could have packed a paperclip inside a box labeled Diablo 3, and it would have sold millions overnight. You seem a bit too quick to jump on defending Blizzard. I know that Gamespot makes its income from covering these big-budget, commercial games, but at least be real and true to your own self.
@Jaxith @Ballroompirate You're totally right. But do you think that Gamespot would have cared to update an old review if this game was not so damn popular today? If LoL were to have 100,000 players instead of millions, Gamespot wouldn't give a crap.
Bill Gates should just go and form a new company on his own. I know that it's probably hard for him to take that step at this point in time, leaving behind all the prestige and history... but he'd probably be better off distancing himself from this company. When you're the last person trying to do the right thing in a company while everyone else is just running it into the ground, you might as well abandon ship.
@BamaGoatt You're right... I shouldn't be trash-talking those games just because I personally don't like them that much. They're good games though. I only like Half Life a lot more, and yeah, HL3 would definitely be the key to steam machines.
