Yep, it was Grand Theft Auto III that made it, followed by Metal Gear Solid 2 a few months later and with Final Fantasy X being released a few days before Christmas
Devil May Cry was a very great action game although a lot of people complained about how hard it is and some complicated combos to pull off. Capcom responded to those complaints in their next Devil May Cry game and the result was something that people who were looking for a more accessible Devil May Cry game but a massive disappointment to most action afficionados who were expecting more than the first game after beating it in the most difficult level (Dante Must Die).
