bought mine recently and it has 2x component input (assuming that's what you meant). i would think that all hdtv's would require it (unless it was some kind of pc monitor that happened to have hdmi).
if you want to just browse the current best components, just go to tigerdirect.com--for corei7 cpus, which are the latest(and fastest), low-end versions can cost less than last gen. core2quad(extreme/high end), but i7 requires new mobos + ddr3(very expensive compared to last gen mobos/ddr2)
i think that the rrod is microsoft's ps2 disk read failure. Look at how many new ps2s were purchased because their previous system(older models) would do that eventually. sony probably tolerated the problem for so long because the increased sales overpowered the repair costs. Eventually, sony released a ps2 that fixed the problem permanently, but they probably had the solution years before then.
