They are showing us only select portions of the game so far. I wouldn't count those things out yet as it's still early. They want to show us what makes this game "the new Tomb Raider". Besides, it wouldn't be a Tomb Raider game if you didn't raid tombs. ;)
@raycey The game seems to draw more inspiration from past Tomb Raider games than from Uncharted games. One scene in the preview is similar to a scene in Uncharted but let's not run with that. Judge when the game is released. I personally like adventure games like Tomb Raider and Uncharted so this one looks good so far.
@DarthLod Don't be so critical on a game that hasn't been released yet. From what I've seen so far, the game will have it's share of free exploration. This is Lara's origin story so she's not the experienced explorer we're used to. In the beginning she's scared and vulnerable but becomes more confident as the story progresses. The developers are trying to freshen up an old tired formula and we should give them a chance.
People, this is not a traditional Metal Gear game and it's not intended to be. It is a spin-off. I'm sure the next true Metal Gear sequel will come but until then please welcome something new and different.
