Its fortunate its not affecting most titles in production. That would have not garnered much sympathy if it had.
From what someone pointed out in the other topic, its the non big name guys under additional listings that need a little bit more. Its a shame thwy didnt take this deal though. At some point companies need to move on and might leave the 25% and find some other way of quality control with non union voice actors. Good side of that would be more people getting a chance to make themselves a name.
@olddadgamer: There we go. The additional voices. I can imagine there being an unfortunate significant difference in their pay compared to Troy Baker and Nolan North, as well as celebrity voice actors like Hugh Jackman.
While it is reciting lines on paper, the voice actors can develop vocal strain. I'm curious about their pay. $100 per hour, how many hours do they work?
Also, most of the companies targeted have pretty good voice acting, especially Insomniac.
"We consider the Union's threatened labor action to call a strike precipitous, unnecessary, and an action that will only harm their membership," Witlin claimed. "SAG-AFTRA represents performers in less than 25 percent of the video games on the market. Any strike would not only deny SAG-AFTRA's membership work, but this would also give their competitors, who do not engage union talent, a leg up while any strike would be in place."
@Ex1st3nz: You and lionheartssj1 are right about him being a good guy. From what I've read, he's a gamer at heart. Speaking of beyond borders of XBox, I'm interested in seeing what will come about with possible unifying of Windows 10 and XBox One. That could possibly benefit both console and PC gamers.
