Before i am a big gamer, but before that I am a die hard sports fan and competitor. The sports I love so much is MMA and Boxing, the combat sports. UFC isn't bad for a start of a franchise, its very realistic and when you get good it involves a great deal of strategy. What makes me most inspired by the UFC is that their is a counter for everything, but the game is unbalanced (GSP in the Welter).Although Ienjoyed UFC I was greatly looking forward to fight night round 4, i loved 3 but I had a feeling that 4 was going to improve upon the faliures ofround3.

When i got my copy of thegame I was surprised that this game that was advertise as sim has now took a turn for the worse. Its not sim at all, for one instance is the body punching and spamming, ppl online with no strategy come out and throw bodypunches all dayor switch to straight spamming, its very annoying for a person who knows the in and out of the sport to come online and see this. Whats most annoying about this is how effective it is, when u try to box smart it has lil to no effect on these players because either one of two things happen, 1st they might score on the cards because for some reason in fight night it doesnt matter how many punches u land cleanly, only the amount that has been thrown. 2nd u try to counter but it shows lil to no effect. body punching should take over the course of the fight, its like putting money in the bank u dont see results until later on the fight. on the game it takes place almost instantly

the stamina bar is pathetic if a guy throws too much he should be gassed n later on exhausted in the fight, any real boxer knows throwing so much can be sucide even if they are somewhat landing that big shot is the one that hurt. What makes me up set is how people can keep throwing, at least in round 3 a fighter would get gassed from throwing too much in a combination and can hurt ur endurance later in a fight. This is no where to be found in this game that claims it sim. the movement is somewhat unrealistic and especially how many punches are thrown while spamming in the same hand i hate round 3 but art least when someone tried the same tatic they got gassed or counter with that unrealistic parry.

another thing is footwork, it barely exist and for the constant spammer it can suck the smart boxer in with no escape so he cant get out of trouble and allows the spammer to get in body shot or straight after straight.

my biggest gripe with ea and round 4 is why do they award the idiot fighter and condemn the boxing ethusatist and followers of the sport. This game is a GAME no where close to the gaming sim i was tricked into believing it was. I thought this will be the game where i can fight a smart fight and finally show the idiots there exploits don't work and when someone combinds know how and gaming skills it can be deadly. but ea proved me wrong and will do the same in madden.

curse this game and curse the hype disappointed to the max

is it still schedule for 2009 or has it pushed back and is assassin creed still due in 09 too?

I have no complaints about the controls im glad the game went to the stick. I do share ur pain with outside fighting n dancing, its almost as if it isn't implememted in the game. dancing was easier to do in round 3 but the hit points and priority of punches were all f'd up via the spammer jab with goalith or jermaine taylor. nothings perfect but i hated round 3, but fight night 4 is good but i was lead to believe it was sim. its way more sim then round 3 however not sim enough...

Can you change the control scheme in FNR4? You could in 3, but you couldn't in the FNR4 demo? It's the only thing keeping me from buying right now.xmitchconnorx
if ur looking for buttons no its not in here and good riddence to the buttons. u shouldnt get on because no offense, you'll probably resort to spamming

Idk FNR4 was pretty good on my part, but i see what you mean EA didint do there research at all but the physics are alot better now and it could be tweaked a bit stats wise, but other then that its the best boxing simulator out there and if u get past the damn noobs online spamming punches, all you have to do is get better to the point where that doesn't work on you, like me im good enough to the point i have 23(19)-2 thats damn good and i go up against the punch spammers alot. Yeah I'm pretty good too, but i feel like there should be a bigger punishment for going all out. U rarely see a boxer do that unless the opponent is stunned. Its a good game and im gonna stick with it because its the only boxing game in town.

its a solid game don't get me wrong but....i think it will take some getting use to. My gripes with the new system...

  • seems unrealistic: the movements at time seems so unreal and so unlike the real thing, i mean its good but sometimes it looks so ugly its kinda unbareable to see especially if ur boxing fan
  • online: no one seems to be a boxer online, when they said this game was a sim i believed it to be so. when i got online i was in horror to find so many people spamming the same punch and slugging like there's no tomorrow with lil to no consequence. its annoying to be defensive when someone is rewarded for throwing 70 80 punches with barely any effect on their stamina. The game seems to be more arcadey then simulator to me, i could be wrong but i wasn't ready for that.
  • really no difference with boxers: There is lil to no difference in boxers, to their footspeed and handspeed most boxers seems to be the same. They might as well put CAPS in because there isnt too much differents between the character models. The stances are the only noteable thing that is different
  • The weight class system online: wtf is jermaine taylor doing in the heavyweights he only fought as a light heavy once or twice, his whole career he has been a super middleweight. This is embrassing on EA's part, and lumping all the boxers into 3 classes is a terrible idea, simply terrible.

other then that its somewhat solid, but no where near i was lead to believe.

King of the fighters have always had a huge roster of fighters avaliable. the next one for the next gen systems look bad ass, however it has an extremely reduced roster then what i am use to seeing. Does anyone know if SNK is plaining to add more characters for the console version of the game, or if some will be avaliable via dlc?

I was playing online and i notice not too many people quit anymore and actually take their loses with dignity. I know there was talks of a patch being released to correct the rage quitting and giving the rightful victor the win on their record. Was the patched all ready released without me noticing or the community is final taking heed to its shortcomings, and preparing for when they can't rage quit themselves out of a loss.
