I don't thing so. RPG gamers are very loyal. There is a huge active player community and that makes for a huge community of bharsh critics. Folks on the blogs, communities, etc made their concerns known. Heck, half the dev crew jumped ship last summer. A sequal without the same director and actors often sucks. This is like Disney hiring Johnny Depp to play Tanto. There are some things you just don't do, they just reek of hubris.

I need to add that my angern stems from my original worry as to why so much of the original Montreal development team quit about a year ago. The stories as to why aew not yet out. The reason for that, I guess, is because of the signed NDA's, but eventually the truth will get out. I really did not like hearing that development will occur so far away from the game's original home. Changing voice actors is definitely a justification.

What a bunch of incompetent imbeciles. Somebody in another blog made a comment about this being like James Earl Jones no longer voicing Darth Vader. We are not doing a prequel where Garret's voice can and should be done by a different actor.. I do not respect companies that do not listen to their fans. These guys have no idea how big and united the Thief player community is...in the absence of new iterations we have even written our own adventures. We continue to play the old version. Here's an idea: How about we change the Garret's name to Françoise and make him a Quebec secessionist as well. Forget the voice issue, let's make him speak Joual. Let's be clear, I am only trying to offend the developers. Yes the game is a product owned by your company however the Fanbase saw your division as being privileged with a great responsibility. Not charges but privileged. You justified my worry about the game being done so far from where it was developed. You screw up our first and primary request, and give a reason that makes absolutely no technical sense. The character is Garrett, not Gollum. It is completely unnecessary to have voice and action be done by the same actor. You guys are dreaming if you think that nine years make any difference to us fans. Those of us who will rush to buy the game, are the same ones who bought and played every other version. You are going to get seriously bashed for this one.
